Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s Difficulty Differs Between Control Styles, Says Producer

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, has certainly piqued my interest. The graphics are breathtaking, and the quality-of-life features are a welcome addition. However, it’s the inclusion of the new Modern control style that has me intrigued.

Konami is actively marketing the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The stunning graphics are a standout feature, but it also boasts several user-friendly enhancements, such as a revamped control scheme for modern gaming. This change in perspective to an over-the-shoulder view enables players to move while aiming simultaneously.

For those seeking a gameplay experience akin to the original, the Classic style remains an option. It appears that each style presents its own level of challenge. In conversation with Famitsu (translation by Automaton-Media), producer Yuji Korekado shared insights on why the development team decided against altering styles during gameplay.

In simpler terms, “The new play style offers a broader, straight view and allows you to fire your weapon while moving Snake, making it less challenging than anticipated. Yet, if we were to balance things according to the new style, the legacy style would become overly difficult. Consequently, we opted to separate the two gameplay styles.

It’s yet unclear which one will prove to be more difficult, but players can anticipate a level of challenge akin to the original when they play on the Legacy version.

Although there’s no official launch date yet, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater can be played end-to-end. It’s set to arrive on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Here’s a sneak peek at some off-screen gameplay from Tokyo Game Show 2024.
