As an old-school gamer with decades of gaming experiences under my belt, I’ve seen the evolution of horror games from their humble beginnings to the intricate narratives and immersive worlds we see today. The upcoming releases of Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio and Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake have me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating these new additions to my horror gaming collection.
Next week, Studio Zero’s game “Metaphor: ReFantazio” and Bloober Team’s remake of “Silent Hill 2” will be released. As for the review embargo on “Metaphor: ReFantazio,” it remains unclear (the embargo for “Silent Hill 2” is said to be on October 4th), but both games have already received their initial reviews from Famitsu.
ReFantazio” received a 37/40, with critics noting that it shares a similar feel to the “Persona” series.
Almost every aspect – including the combat system, visuals, narrative flow – was generally well-received. Completing it usually takes around 80 hours, but when tackling additional challenges, this time extends beyond 100 hours. Director Katsura Hashino hinted at adding numerous enjoyable features that might persuade players to return and continue enjoying the game after finishing it.
On October 8th, the remake of “Silent Hill 2” and the game “Metaphor: ReFantazio” will launch. The Silent Hill 2 remake can be played on both PS5 and PC, whereas Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to release on PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S systems.
