Metaphor: ReFantazio is as Long as Persona 5, Post-Story Content Teased by Director

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours invested in JRPGs, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation tingling down my spine upon hearing that Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to match the length of Katsura Hashino’s masterpiece, Persona 5.

In approximately two weeks, Studio Zero’s game titled “Metaphor: ReFantazio” will be released. So far, we’ve been introduced to various aspects such as combat, dungeons, exploration, optional activities like Bounties, the storyline, and new characters like Eupha. Yet, one important detail remains unanswered: What is the duration of this experience?

Indeed, director Katsura Hashino’s previous work, “Persona 5,” has a substantial playtime – according to HowLongToBeat, it takes approximately 97.5 hours on average to complete the main story. For those who want to explore every detail, around 173 hours are required. In an interview with Vandal, Hashino mentioned that “Metaphor: ReFantazio” aims to match up to this level of immersive gameplay.

The game ‘Persona 5‘ was particularly large and full of depth, and our new creation, ReFantazio, aims to match that expansiveness.” Additionally, there will be extra content beyond the main storyline to encourage players to revisit.

We’ve packed the game with exciting extras, designed to keep you coming back for more once you’ve finished it. Additionally, we’ve strived to make the game flow smoothly. To achieve this, we’ve integrated action aspects into our turn-based gameplay.

Initially, Hashino anticipated the game would be relatively brief. However, with all the additional content and numerous elements included, it’s clear that its length is comparable to that of Persona 5. Players can anticipate an abundance of animated cinematics, as the team strives for a similar quantity as in Persona 5.

On October 11th, the imaginative game ReFantazio will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Keep an eye out for additional information and gameplay previews as we approach the launch date. Take a peek at the beginning of this exciting journey right here.
