Meteora Is Probably the Most Unique Racing Game Coming to PS5 in 2026

It’s delightful to witness a racer who stands out from the crowd because they bring something unique to the racing scene these days.

Meteora is a combat racing game in which you pilot a meteor through the cosmos.

Originally slated for Sony’s India Hero Project lineup, this fusion of arcade-style action and racing attributes presents a one-of-a-kind gaming experience.

At every stage, your objective is to navigate swiftly across space towards the finish line. However, as the PlayStation Blog post discloses, numerous challenges stand between you and your goal.

In simple terms, you’re piloting a meteor through the infinite universe, maneuvering through dangerous cosmic landscapes to stay alive. Your main tools are sharp focus and swift reactions as you dodge moving threats and massive space barriers during your voyage to reach the end of each stage. Each stage offers a distinct challenge that must be overcome to open the exit gateway.

The game presents a rapid, challenging trial of dexterity, where you maneuver through obstacles such as explosive asteroid fields, electrified junk, and ice-cold barriers that could potentially halt your progress.

As a gamer, I’ll be collecting crystals and stardust for boosted health and speed, but I won’t forget about those pesky rival meteors that keep me on my toes!

Luckily, you can successfully eliminate them, and some even grant additional perks upon removal, like providing resources or refilling your energy stores.

The situation seems rather confusing, and it could become twice as complex when playing on PSVR2. Interestingly, the game is also compatible with Sony’s headset for those who prefer that experience.

It appears that Meteora is making the most out of every feature available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR 2, such as haptic feedback, spatial sound, and motion control options.

2026 marks the release of Meteora, an exciting arcade game that seems worth waiting for. Would you be keen on it? Head over to the comet section (my apologies) below to learn more.
