Metro Awakening Gameplay Highlights Stealth, Gunplay, and Survival Mechanics

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming release of Metro Awakening has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! Having dived deep into the post-apocalyptic world of the Metro series before, I can’t wait to explore it all over again, this time in glorious virtual reality.

Following its release date reveal at State of Play, Vertigo Games’ Metro Awakening has been treated to some in-depth gameplay updates. The footage highlights the main character, Dr. Serdar, stealthily navigating through bands of scavengers in search of supplies. This covert operation quickly escalates into a fierce gunfight, and it doesn’t take long before mutants join the fray.

In line with past games, players are equipped with a gas mask (complete with filters), a wristwatch, a lighter, a versatile charger, and assorted gear. However, what sets this game apart is that the virtual reality experience feels more natural and immersive because there’s no on-screen user interface. Instead, you can peer at your watch while taking aim or extract items from your bag, such as grenades. The actions, like replacing filters or cleaning the mask, are performed manually, making the gameplay feel more authentic.

The PlayStation VR2 enhances immersion through adjustable triggers, surround sound, and headset vibrations. It maintains the essence of its forerunners but introduces a fresh perspective in the survival/shooting genre of the franchise.

The “Metro Awakening” game will be released on November 7th across various platforms including SteamVR, PSVR2, Meta Quest 2 and 3, and others. However, those who own the Deluxe Edition are given early access to start playing from November 5th onwards.
