Metro Developer Announces New Game and a Rebrand

4A Games, the creators of the Metro series, have been secretly working on a new project and now, they’re ready to ignite it. Exciting news! 4A Games has rebranded as Reburn. Additionally, the team has unveiled their upcoming title, titled La Quimera, an action-packed first-person shooter set in a futuristic Latin America. The trailer, available below and here, showcases stunning gameplay and graphics that, while reminiscent of Metro, demonstrate visual and narrative improvements. As of now, the game is planned for release on PC, but a specific date or window has not been disclosed yet.

Set within a futuristic Latin American cityscape blending with lush jungles, the game titled “La Quimera” places you in the role of a soldier from a Private Military Corporation (PMC), fighting against opposing factions. By combining intense shooter action and visually stunning designs, it aims to build upon their experiences gained from Metro series, resulting in something fresh and unique. This is certainly an exciting prospect. The game can be enjoyed solo in single-player mode or cooperatively with up to two additional players, marking a first for the studio. Movie enthusiasts will appreciate that renowned writer Nicolas Winding Refn, known for films such as “Drive” and “The Neon Demon“, is involved in this project, along with E.J.A. Warren.

The creators behind the game La Quimera have a background in the Metro series and the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which is evident in its intense gunfights and large-scale environments. As the lead for this project, Oleksandr Kostiuk stands at the helm. Dmytro Lymar, founder and CEO of Reburn, voices the team’s sentiments on the matter.

Dmytro Lymar announced that Reburn is excited to present ‘La Quimera’, a game inspired by our past achievements in creating story-focused shooter games for the Metro series. We can’t wait to unveil this enigmatic new universe to gamers, and we hope they enjoy immersing themselves in the experience of gearing up to participate in the battle.

The team originating from Ukraine, established in 2010 with Metro 2033, has enjoyed significant success with their interpretation of the Metro series. This franchise, born from the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky, drew inspiration from the team’s previous work on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, emphasizing stealth and atmosphere as key elements. Although it appears that the main storyline concluded with 2019’s Metro Exodus, which transitioned to an open-world format, there is a possibility that the series could continue, although with La Quimera at the forefront, it may take some time. However, based on what has been revealed thus far, it should provide ample satisfaction for fans in the meantime.
