Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Pre-Orders on Amazon Are Reportedly Being Cancelled

2025 promises to be a busy year for video games, but let’s not forget that Retro Studios’ “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” is due out later this year. This title was initially announced back in 2017, and its development was restarted in January 2019. After a long period of quiet, gameplay footage was finally unveiled in 2024.

Since the original announcement, Amazon has offered pre-orders, but some of these orders are reportedly getting cancelled. According to GameSpot, this information comes from an employee who had previously placed a pre-order that was subsequently cancelled. However, when reached out to for comment, Nintendo has yet to provide any updates on the matter.

There are theories suggesting that Amazon might not be the only cause for this situation. The upcoming Nintendo Switch successor could potentially mean that Metroid Prime 4 may be cross-generational, leading to a new surge of pre-orders. Also, it’s possible that the price has been raised since some early bird pre-order customers managed to secure it at $48. Keep an eye out for further developments in the next few months.

It’s expected that the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be unveiled in March, followed by its launch in June. However, a prototype of this new device showcased by accessory manufacturer Genki at CES 2025 should not be taken as official, according to Nintendo.
