Michael Cera’s Awkward Encounter with Jackie Chan Will Have You Cringing!

Throughout his career, the actor has been featured in various films such as “Superbad”, “Juno”, “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist”, and others. Notably, Cera gained recognition in 2003 when he portrayed George-Michael Bluth, the son of Jason Bateman’s character Michael Bluth, on the popular TV show “Arrested Development“. However, it appears that renowned actor and martial artist Jackie Chan hasn’t had a chance to watch much of Cera’s work.

In a recent trip to London, Cera, who is currently starring in a movie, had an intriguing yet awkward run-in with Chan. Interestingly enough, Chan was also in London for the promotion of his newest film, and they both happened to be promoting their respective projects within the same building.

“Come and Meet Him”

Following the completion of his interview with Jo Whitley from BBC Radio 2, the actor mentioned that a photographer had informed him that Chan was preparing in another room for his upcoming segment on Scott Mills’ program.

In simpler terms, “She asked me if I knew Jackie Chan, and since I don’t, she suggested I meet him. I did, and it was just that,” Cera told NME less than half an hour after the meeting. Cera mentioned that the star of ‘Rush Hour’ appeared a bit puzzled during their interaction.

In simpler terms, Cera shared that when they first encountered him, he seemed puzzled, asking something like, “Who is this person, what’s the deal?” It appears that he might have thought I was a contest winner, because after taking a picture, he invited me for a quick snap without being rude. However, I felt as if I was interrupting his private moment with his team before he went on air. So, I questioned my presence there. Despite this, everyone was friendly, and I had the chance to meet Jackie. The photo of our encounter hasn’t been posted online yet.

The Phoenician Scheme Premieres on June 6

Cera is set to join the cast of “The Phoenician Scheme,” a film that already boasts stars such as Benicio Del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Willem Dafoe, Scarlett Johansson, Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, and F. Murray Abraham. This movie premiered at Cannes in May, and after its debut, it was directed and written by Anderson, who collaborated on the story with Roman Coppola. Starting June 6, The Phoenician Scheme will be showing in theaters.

Cera Will Appear in The Running Man in November

According to the Phoenician Scheme, Cera will be featured in an upcoming film titled the same as the scheme. This movie will also star Glen Powell, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin, [other actors’ names], Sean Hayes, David Zayas, Katy O’Brian, and William H. Macy. Notably, Wright, who previously directed Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, will be in the director’s chair for this film as well.

Cera mentioned that collaborating with Wright was fascinating because, essentially, Wright’s editor, Paul Machliss, was always on set, making edits in real-time.

He went on to explain, “What you’ve just filmed stays as is, and they don’t need any additional takes, correct? The following day, Paul, might find that we require a brief scene, something like a meaningful glance or a connective moment, for continuity. The entire process is quite momentum-driven. And I must say, this film I recently worked on with him is more like a continuous sequence, almost an action movie.” The Running Man hits theaters on November 7.
