Mickey 17 Trailer Reveals Next Film From Parasite Director Bong Joon-Ho

As a gamer with a penchant for cinema, I can’t help but feel like I’ve just been handed the ultimate ticket to ride the hype train. Bong Joon-Ho’s latest masterpiece, “Mickey 17”, is shaping up to be a cinematic marvel that promises to push the boundaries of storytelling and visual spectacle.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve long admired the genius of director Bong Joon-Ho, whose work has graced the film industry for years. However, it was his groundbreaking film “Parasite” in 2019 that truly set him apart – marking the first non-English language film to ever win the prestigious Best Picture award at the Oscars. Since then, movie enthusiasts like myself have been eagerly awaiting Bong’s next move. And now, our curiosity is finally satiated with the announcement of a sci-fi book adaptation titled “Mickey 17,” featuring Robert Pattinson as the main character.

The movie titled “Mickey 17” has experienced some delay, but Warner Bros. has now set a release date in January 2025 to allow for a complete IMAX launch. On Monday, the official social media accounts for “Mickey 17” hinted at an upcoming trailer, and on Tuesday, that trailer was unveiled online. Here it is!

Even though it premiered early in 2025, the highly anticipated film “Mickey 17” is undoubtedly one of this year’s most eagerly awaited movies. A significant part of its anticipation is due to the combined acting talent of Bong and Pattinson. Adapted from Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey 7”, “Mickey 17” narrates the intriguing tale of a man named Mickey (Pattinson), who serves as an expendable employee, essentially a human capable of regenerating whenever he dies, retaining most of his memories. The story unfolds as Mickey experiences multiple lives, sent on missions to help humanity colonize the icy planet Niflheim.

Robert Pattinson heads a stellar ensemble featuring Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, Naomi Ackie, and Steve Park. The screenplay is based on Ashton’s novel, skillfully transformed by Bong Joon-Ho.

In an interview with Space.com, Ashton shared that Director Bong approaches projects uniquely, developing his own script. Early on, he sought Ashton’s opinions on certain aspects, such as the reproduction of Creepers – something Ashton hadn’t considered when writing the book. This sparked an interesting conversation between them. Although some people worry about Director Bong veering from source material due to his reputation for doing so, Ashton expressed no concern. He admires Director Bong’s genius and believes that he won’t disappoint with Mickey 7; instead, he expects a remarkable job.

Mickey 17 is set to hit theaters everywhere on January 31, 2025.
