At the onset of Microsoft’s 50th Anniversary Copilot Event, a demonstrator disrupted the company’s speech during the presentation.
From a slight distance away from the stage, the protester’s words were hard to make out clearly because of their positioning.
To the best of my ability, I have transcribed what I believe the protester stated:
It seems you assert that you prioritize using AI for beneficial purposes, yet there’s a contradiction as Microsoft reportedly supplies AI technology for weapons to the Israeli military, which has resulted in approximately 50,000 fatalities.
During Microsoft Copilot CEO Mustafa Suleyman’s presentation, a protester voiced their opinions.
Suleyman responded by saying “thank you for your protest, I hear your protest.”
It’s unclear what intentions or emotions were present among the individuals in the event. However, it seems that Suleyman was trying to diffuse the tension and avoided responding directly to any particular remarks from the protester.
The protester seemed to express strong disapproval towards Suleyman, shouting “Shame on you,” and furthermore, they suggested that both Suleyman and Microsoft are accountable for something unjust, possibly stating, “You have blood on your hands… All of Microsoft has blood on its hands.
Other accusations were made, though it is difficult to decipher the statements of the protester.
Suleyman transitioned back to his presentation in a calm manner following the protest.
The live stream below still shows the incident at the time of publication.
