This past week was quite momentous for Microsoft. To mark its 50th anniversary, the technology titan unveiled numerous innovative Copilot features. At this special occasion, many prominent figures from Microsoft’s storied history graced the event.
The latest film adaptation of Minecraft, titled “Minecraft: The Movie,” has just been released in theaters. Despite receiving a variety of opinions from critics, this film shattered box office records for movies derived from video games.
Microsoft 50th Anniversary Copilot Event
After spending five decades at the forefront of technology, there is plenty to commemorate. Microsoft chose to honor this milestone by hosting a significant event.
On stage gathered the founders (Bill Gates), previous CEOs (Steve Ballmer), and present CEO (Satya Nadella) of Microsoft. Notably, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Gaming division, donned an eye-catching Minecraft-themed jacket during the event.
As an analyst, I had the privilege of attending Microsoft’s momentous event commemorating five decades of unyielding service. Beyond the festivities, this occasion served as a launchpad for several exciting Copilot announcements. The AI tool I’ve been working with is now equipped with memory capabilities and will be able to seamlessly engage with various applications, enhancing its functionality and user experience.
Copilot is additionally being equipped with capabilities like booking restaurant tables, while it’s also set to introduce various shopping tools in the near future.

Protester accuses Microsoft of powering genocide
During the initial stages of Microsoft’s 50th Anniversary Copilot Event, a Microsoft employee named Ibtihal Aboussad disrupted the proceedings. This interruption occurred while Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft Copilot, was speaking. The identity of the protester has since been confirmed as Ms. Aboussad.
Aboussad alleged that Microsoft was earning profits from war-related activities and was utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for acts that could be considered genocide. His allegations primarily focused on the company’s reported sale of services to the Israeli military.
As a dedicated follower, I reported on the unfolding events and gathered every piece of information I could get my hands on post-protest. Abussad, in turn, emailed a large number, if not a vast multitude, of Microsoft workforce members following the demonstration.

Last week saw the debut of a movie based on Minecraft in theaters. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the audience seemed to appreciate it more, and it still smashed box office records within its genre.
Regardless of some tough reviews for “A Minecraft Movie,” the film shattered box office records in its category. It achieved the highest opening weekend earnings for any movie derived from a video game.
Xbox handheld tease

The video doesn’t display the physical appearance of the device, but we have a better idea based on our assumptions now.
The ASUS video segment appears to depict an ROG Ally handheld device and an Xbox controller being placed within a box, likely for the purpose of combining or integrating them.
In a playful response to that video, the Xbox account used the “side-eyed monkey” meme character, indicating they understood and appreciated the pop culture reference.
