Prepare yourself! Come along to the Microsoft AI Tour in New York City where a significant announcement from Surface for Business will be made. Make sure to save the date and be sure not to miss it! The post also offers a link to the Microsoft AI Tour website, but at the moment, there’s no indication of any Surface news on that page.
It seems clear that Microsoft intends to roll out new versions of the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 tailored for business use, equipped with Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake processors. These upcoming devices will be the first in the Surface series to take advantage of Copilot+ technology powered by Intel.
Last year, images of the upcoming Surface Laptop 7 featuring Intel processors leaked online. These photos suggest that the laptop’s exterior design will be similar to the current Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon. I’ve also heard rumors that Microsoft is planning to release a 5G version of the Surface Laptop 7 with Intel for the first time, though it may not start shipping until later in the year.
The upcoming models of the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 with Intel processors are intended for business customers, similar to the previous versions, the Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10. Consequently, these devices will not be available at popular retailers like Amazon or Best Buy. However, you can acquire them directly from the Microsoft Store should you wish to own one.
After Panos Panay’s departure, Microsoft clearly divided its hardware production into commercially-oriented and consumer-focused sectors. By 2024, Microsoft hosted two Surface events within a short timeframe, with one event showcasing their commercial hardware and the other highlighting their consumer products.
It’s possible that we’re looking at a new standard for Surface devices. However, it’s important to note that the anticipated consumer updates for both the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop might not appear until late this year or early 2026. This delay is due to the expected readiness of the next-generation Snapdragon X2 processors around that timeframe.
