The AI-powered Microsoft Outlook app, compatible with iOS and Android devices, is soon to include a new feature that allows you to easily identify crucial emails. This Priority View within Outlook will group your emails into two distinct categories: those marked as High Priority and those requiring your Response.
The new Copilot feature won’t be fully available for everyone to use right away; instead, it’ll gradually become accessible throughout this month, with the process continuing all the way up to December 2025 as Microsoft completes its rollout. (Microsoft’s message center provides more details here.)
Microsoft does not mention the feature rolling out to Outlook for the web.
In order to utilize the latest function, it’s necessary that you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription. Microsoft 365 Copilot is an additional, fee-based service for regular Microsoft 365 packages. It’s mainly designed for business and corporate users.
As a researcher exploring the use of Outlook on my mobile device, I discovered that enabling the Prioritize View for my emails can be done by navigating through Settings > Copilot > Prioritize > Priority view. I have the freedom to set the duration emails stay in the prioritized inbox, albeit the maximum duration is limited to a span of three days.
If the ‘Priority View’ feature is active, you can reach it by clicking on the sparkle icon situated at the top of Outlook.
Many, including me, often voice criticism towards Microsoft for incorporating AI into numerous apps and services. In certain scenarios, the integration of AI seems unnecessary or even inflates app sizes, as can be observed in cases like Notepad.
I’m looking forward to experimenting with Priority View in Outlook as I receive a large volume of emails, making it challenging to keep up. Since I have a job and oversee a community sports team, I frequently get messages from new contacts. While folders and filters help, they don’t always solve the problem effectively.
It’s great to imagine Microsoft leveraging Copilot to enhance Outlook’s functionalities, particularly its spam filter. Frankly, it’s surprising that some messages are labeled as spam while others slip through undetected in Outlook.
