According to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, he is content with the lineup of exclusive games for Xbox this year; however, there are additional unannounced games in the pipeline.
As a researcher, I recently had an engaging conversation with Spencer prior to the release of the Minecraft Movie in cinemas, which was published on Tuesday. During our discussion, he delved into numerous intriguing topics. These ranged from potential Xbox film and TV projects, such as Fallout Season 2, to the unveiling and imminent launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
When queried about the games he’s most anticipating for release later in the year, Phil Spencer responded as follows:
1. “Phil Spencer shared his thoughts on the video games he’s most looking forward to debuting by year-end:”
”
”
4. “Phil Spencer discussed the games he’s most enthusiastic about launching later this year when asked about it:”
5. “When asked which games coming out this year he’s most excited for, here’s what Phil Spencer shared:
I’m thrilled about the lineup of games we have for the remainder of this year. We recently released “Avowed,” and I must admit, Obsidian is doing an exceptional job. Of course, we’ve discussed “The Outer Worlds 2” and “South of Midnight.” There are also games like “Doom,” and there’s more to come, some of which hasn’t been announced yet. I’m trying hard not to reveal anything.
What other Xbox games could be launching in 2025?
Could Phil Spencer be hinting at any surprise games? There are a few possibilities that come to mind right away. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has leaked and it appears we won’t have to wait long before its official reveal, as rumors suggest it could be released as early as next week.
It appears highly probable that a new Call of Duty title will be released towards the end of 2025. There are whispers suggesting a follow-up to 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, but the details about its size and scope remain uncertain. Intriguingly, there might be elements that tie in with last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, implying it could serve as an expansion or addition to that game.
Less definitive, yet noteworthy, are persistent whispers about an upcoming Gears of War remastered set. Given the possibility that The Coalition and Xbox Game Studios are preparing for a Gears of War: E-Day release next year, it seems plausible they might also unveil a remastered collection in conjunction with this.
It appears that Xbox Game Studios is emphasizing Obsidian Entertainment’s science-fiction RPG, The Outer Worlds 2, in the latter part of 2025, as indicated by the Xbox Games Showcase in June and a Direct solely dedicated to it. However, a remastered collection won’t detract from this focus.
No matter what, I’m excited to learn more when we hit June.
