Microsoft is “Building Plans” for the 25th Anniversary of Halo and Xbox

As a longtime fan who’s been with Master Chief since his first steps on Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001, hearing about the potential remaster of this classic game for its 25th anniversary is nothing short of exhilarating! The thought of revisiting those iconic levels with updated graphics and maybe even a few surprises has me practically salivating.

In November of 2026, both the Xbox brand and the Halo franchise will reach their 25th anniversary, and it appears that Microsoft has started preparing for a dual celebration to mark this significant occasion.

In a recent interview with License Global magazine, John Friend, who heads up Microsoft’s Xbox consumer products, spoke about the diverse array of franchises that Microsoft manages, both fresh and established. He hinted at Microsoft’s strategies for the Halo franchise as well as plans for celebrating Xbox’s 25th anniversary.

We’re creating strategies for celebrating the 25th anniversary of both Halo and Xbox. With such a deep-rooted legacy and vibrant, enduring communities, it’s only fitting that we mark this occasion.

The specifics of those plans are yet to be clarified, but it’s interesting to consider the connections between recent rumors and leaks. For example, some whispers suggest that a remastered version of “Halo: Combat Evolved” might be underway, which could potentially coincide with the game’s upcoming 25th anniversary if Microsoft decides to release it.

It’s been hinted that the upcoming Xbox generation might launch as early as 2026, surprising many, and this new console could potentially come with a handheld device too.
