Now, it’s possible to download and use the Microsoft Copilot app independently on macOS systems. Earlier, users needed to access Copilot through a web browser when working on their Macs.
Before jumping to conclusions, it’s important to note that the Copilot app functions as an enhanced version of the Copilot web interface. Although it incorporates certain unique features, this is something Microsoft itself cannot claim about its Copilot app for Windows 11.
Setting criticisms towards the Windows 11 Copilot app aside, it’s great to see the macOS version of the Copilot app arrive when it does.

Microsoft has made an exciting announcement – they’re offering complimentary access to Think Deeper and Copilot Voice! In order to utilize the Copilot app on a Mac, ensure that your device is equipped with an M1 chip or a more recent model, and it should be running macOS 14 Sonoma or a subsequent version.
The Copilot application available on macOS includes a dark mode and can be activated using the keyboard shortcut Command + Space. This software was introduced for use in the U.S., UK, and Canada starting today.
In addition to launching a macOS version of Copilot, Microsoft also announced that the Copilot app on iPad would receive an update to allow for split-screen usage.
Previously, Copilot could be accessed only via web platforms. However, with the introduction of a standalone app, Microsoft can now promote this tool more effectively.
