Microsoft is still feeling the excitement following its 50th anniversary, which took place on April 4, last Friday.
It looks like the party isn’t over.
Glancing at the Instagram post by Microsoft, I was momentarily taken aback upon seeing their limited-edition Microsoft Surface Laptop for their 50th anniversary.
This laptop boasts a standard matte black finish, except for a distinctive golden emblem on its rear side. Notably, it showcases an intricate engraving of the 1975 Microsoft logo close to the keyboard. Additionally, it seems to sport a unique black and gold desktop theme that harmonizes well with its design.
Subtle, yet if you know, you know. It gets my approval.
In our evaluation, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 powered by Qualcomm’s processor received a top rating, and we labeled it as “simply the best laptop overall.
How to get a 50th Anniversary Exclusive Microsoft Surface Laptop
The positive aspect is that there’s no cost involved for this laptop. However, it’s important to note that you can’t purchase it directly; instead, you have the chance to win it through some form of competition or giveaway.
Microsoft posted the instructions on its Instagram page, and it includes:
- Post a picture of your Surface on-the-go
- Tell Microsoft why you love your Surface in the caption
- Make sure you’re following @Surface on Instagram
- Add #Microsoft50SurfaceSweepstakes and #Microsoft50 to the post
The competition ends on April 16th (that’s right, the 16th itself) at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Regrettably, only individuals from the United States and Puerto Rico are eligible to participate.
Unfortunately, it won’t be found in retail stores nor offered directly by Microsoft. However, if there is significant public interest, perhaps Microsoft might consider producing it. Yet, the existing import tariffs could potentially pose challenges to such a decision.
Is it Intel or Qualcomm?
I wonder if this Surface Laptop 7 is powered by an Intel processor or a Qualcomm one, as Microsoft offers two distinct lines of laptops: one equipped with Intel processors aimed at businesses, while the other comes with Qualcomm processors designed for consumer use.
As a researcher focusing on consumer technology, my inclination leans towards the device being equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor. However, there are always surprises in the tech world, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
I’m currently investigating its dimensions (either 13.8 or 15 inches), its memory capacity, and storage, although it might be the second-highest tier model featuring 32GB of RAM and a 1TB solid-state drive.
It’s worth noting that Microsoft.com provides a high-end model boasting 64GB of RAM, a feature that could be impressive (yet potentially excessive) for usage.
As an analyst, I’ve noticed that while both the 13.8-inch and 15-inch models share a similar design on Microsoft’s Instagram page, the second top-down photo appears to feature the smaller model. The touchpad size and the closer arrangement of keys to the laptop edge in this image align with characteristics typically found in the 13.8-inch variant, making it my preferred choice.
A closer look to come?
Although we can’t guarantee it, there are whispers that Windows Central might be able to examine the 50th Anniversary Edition Microsoft Surface Laptop up close for future reference. In other words, even though you might not own one yourself, you’ll get a detailed peek at this special device.
Stay tuned!
