Starting in May, you can expect an improvement in the speed of Microsoft Office apps on your computer. This enhancement comes from a new feature that initiates a Startup Optimization task for the Office programs.
Initially, the innovative Startup Boost feature will be introduced within Microsoft Word, with plans to expand its availability to additional Office applications later on. This task is elective and caters only to systems that match specific requirements, ensuring minimal impact on your computer’s performance.
According to Microsoft, you can find this information elsewhere as well – specifically, it is available in the Microsoft 365 Archive of Notifications.
Starting in May 2025, Microsoft will debut a new feature called Startup Boost aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of Office applications. This enhancement will first be available for Microsoft Word, with other applications to follow. The feature can be found in the Windows Task Scheduler and is optional; you can disable it through the settings within the app itself. No administrative action is necessary for this rollout.
Computers needing a minimum of 8GB RAM and 5GB free storage space will activate the Startup Boost feature. However, this function will automatically turn off when Energy Saver mode is activated.
Enhancement at Startup Boost aims to expedite the loading process of your Office applications, enabling you to dive into your tasks faster. Similar to various startup operations, this functionality kicks off upon booting up your computer, only activating when required.
Beginning around mid-May, the introduction of Startup Boost will take place gradually. Microsoft anticipates finishing the deployment of this feature by the end of June.
Microsoft 365 price increase
Recently, Microsoft unveiled an upward adjustment in the pricing of Microsoft 365 for the first time in a span of twelve years. Despite this long gap, the news of the price hike was met with dismay by numerous users.
The monthly cost for both Microsoft 365 Personal and Home subscriptions has increased by $3 compared to the previous pricing. However, there are still some traditional Microsoft 365 plans available at a reduced cost, but they’ll only be around temporarily.
As a keen follower of Microsoft 365 pricing trends, I regretfully find myself compelled to share the news: it appears that an upward adjustment in costs is gradually being implemented across retailers and resellers alike.
You can build upon your existing Microsoft 365 subscription by adding more time or features to it. In other words, if you currently have an active Microsoft 365 plan, it might be beneficial to take advantage of a great offer and extend it further.
