As a researcher, I am excited to share that I’ll be attending Microsoft’s developer-centric conference, Build, which is happening in Seattle, Washington from May 19th to May 22nd next year. Although the details for Build 2025 are scarce at this point, with only the dates being confirmed, it’s reasonable to anticipate that AI will be a significant theme.

On this page, you’re invited to register if you wish to stay informed about the latest news regarding Microsoft Build 2025. Prepare yourself for discovering cutting-edge advancements in coding and app development, along with valuable knowledge sharing from professionals worldwide.

What is Microsoft Build?

The annual Microsoft Build conference is designed primarily for software engineers and web developers, taking place typically in May, as it does this year. This event offers these professionals a chance to familiarize themselves with the technologies and tools provided by Microsoft. Furthermore, it presents an ideal platform for industry networking. In essence, the technologies showcased at Build have the potential to impact the technology used by millions worldwide. Moreover, Microsoft often reveals news that instantly captures the attention of everyday users.

2024’s Build conference primarily emphasized Artificial Intelligence (AI), a prediction consistent with tech industry trends. Microsoft highlighted AI agents from last year’s Build and launched Phi-3 vision models. The company also demonstrated Edge’s real-time translation features and announced custom emoji support in Microsoft Teams during the event. Even Qualcomm got involved, unveiling its Snapdragon X Elite-powered mini PC; however, this device was eventually scrapped.

Previously, Microsoft unveiled the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 at a private gathering one day prior to Build last year, both boasting Snapdragon X processors. Although there’s new Surface hardware coming up, it might be revealed at an event distinct from Build 2025. Our Senior Editor Zac Bowden stated, “Microsoft plans to deliver these compact Surface PCs within the April/May period.” Let’s keep an eye on the release schedule for this product launch to see if it coincides with Build.
