During the summer season, Capcom unveiled “Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection” and “Capcom Fighting Collection 2” for PlayStation and Nintendo Switch systems, without any mention of Xbox platforms. This decision left some fans perplexed and annoyed. However, a few weeks later, Capcom revealed that these games will indeed be available on Xbox platforms following discussions with Microsoft partners. Although this news was welcome to many, it also sparked questions as to why certain developers are shying away from Xbox. It appears that Microsoft is keen to address this issue. In a recent blog post, the company detailed an initiative aimed at gathering more developer feedback, even those who don’t presently support Xbox platforms.

The brand has struggled to compete with its rivals, with sales remaining flat and some developers expressing concerns about the Xbox platform. Reports suggest that developers are losing faith in the Xbox brand, as many of their games have been announced for both Nintendo and PlayStation systems. Additionally, studios have faced challenges due to the need to support the Xbox Series S console for four years, a situation that has caused frustration among them.
It remains uncertain if this Xbox initiative will enable the company to steer its course back on track and regain trust from game creators. Despite some unfavorable headlines recently, Xbox has succeeded in gaining Square Enix’s backing, resulting in releases of games such as Final Fantasy XIV and Pixel Remasters on their platform, with whispers of additional titles to follow. Microsoft faces a challenging road ahead convincing developers reluctant to work with Xbox at present, but let’s hope they can pull through and make improvements.
