Microsoft wants users to ditch Windows 10 before its imminent death — Using Copilot+ PCs with Recall to upsell Windows 11

Approaching the date when Windows 10 support ends (October 14, 2025), Microsoft appears to be coming up with increasingly creative strategies to encourage users to switch to Windows 11. In contrast to previous methods like full-screen multipage pop-up ads, Microsoft has announced a more subtle and refined approach: the introduction of Copilot+ PCs.

If you’re using a Windows 10 PC that’s over five years old and heavily relying on Microsoft applications, you might have considered upgrading to Windows 11. However, the strict system requirements set by Microsoft for Windows 11 often make it challenging for users to upgrade with their existing devices.

As a tech enthusiast, I’m excited about Microsoft’s hint that the solution to this puzzle lies in their Copilot+ PC. Not only does it meet all the system requirements for Windows 11, but it also comes packed with cutting-edge AI features such as Windows Recall, Click To Do, and an enhanced Windows Search. These innovative tools are designed to elevate my Windows 11 experience, making it smoother and more efficient than ever before!

You might be aware that these new features have just become available on Copilot+ computers, following about a year’s worth of postponement due to privacy and security issues.

Microsoft is all-in on Copilot+ PCs

According to Microsoft, Copilot+ PCs:

  • Deliver up to 13% faster performance than the MacBook Air M4 amongst top performing devices, with unmatched AI experiences in market.
  • Up to 5x faster than a 5-year-old Windows device with enhanced security features that make them the most secure Windows PCs we’ve ever built.
  • Provide the longest lasting battery amongst Windows PCs, with Up to 22 hours of video playback and up to 15 hours of web browsing, so you can go all day on a single charge.

It’s noteworthy that the company asserts a significant number of Copilot+ PCs have been widely adopted. As per their January report, as much as 15% of high-end laptops sold in the United States during the holiday season were Copilot+ PCs.

Microsoft expects this figure to increase significantly, with a goal of having the majority of computers sold in the upcoming years being Copilot+ PCs.

Over the last several months, Windows 11 has been gradually increasing its market share (42.69%), yet Windows 10 remains the dominant player with 54.2%. It’ll be intriguing to observe if the approaching end of Windows 10 will encourage users to transition to Windows 11 and purchase Copilot+ PCs, or if they’ll opt for other solutions to delay the switch.
