Microsoft’s Game-Changer: 5G Surface Laptop Coming Soon, But You’ll Have to Wait!

Excitedly speaking, I’m thrilled to share that Microsoft has revealed its intentions to debut a 5G-equipped version of the Surface Laptop by year’s end! This will be the first time this technology is integrated into the Surface Laptop series, as until now, the sole means to acquire a 5G compatible Surface PC was through the Surface Pro.

It appears you’ll need a bit of patience before securing the sought-after Surface Laptop with 5G, as Microsoft has announced that they will reveal more information about the 5G model in the upcoming months, placing its release date as “later in 2025.” For those who have eagerly anticipated this product for years, it’s now time to rejoice!

The new Surface Laptop model featuring 5G was introduced alongside updates on Intel versions of the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 for business use. It remains undecided whether the 5G Surface Laptop will be accessible to consumers with Snapdragon processors, or if it’ll only be distributed through Microsoft’s commercial storefront in its Intel-only models.

Additionally, there’s no mention of pricing, but considering the Surface Pro with 5G, we can expect a price increase of around $200-$300 for the models that offer 5G connectivity compared to their Wi-Fi only counterparts of comparable specifications.

You can purchase the newly released Surface Pro and Surface Laptop in two options: powered by Snapdragon or Intel. The Intel versions are only available through Microsoft’s business outlet and commercial channels, and they come with additional features like anti-glare displays, Near Field Communication (NFC), and a built-in card reader.

Currently, Microsoft is offering a new USB4 Dock for sale, priced $100 lower than the Thunderbolt 4 Dock, although it has fewer ports. In the near future, there are whispers that Microsoft might launch compact editions of both the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop this coming spring. These miniature devices could boast 11- or 12-inch screens and Snapdragon X processors. Fingers crossed, these smaller models may also be customizable with 5G technology.
