Back in the early days of the year, I shared exciting news about Microsoft preparing to release a series of compact Surface PCs. It seems that both the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop families are set to welcome smaller counterparts this spring, sporting approximately 12-inch screens, as I’ve been informed.
It seems that the upcoming, smaller version of the Surface Pro has been spotted in a Chinese certification database before its official debut, which is expected to happen within the coming month. The two models associated with this new device are identified as 2109 and 2110.
As a tech-savvy individual, I’m excited to share that the much-anticipated 12-inch Surface Pro is making its way through the certification process, as seen by its recent appearance at the China Certification Center on March 19th. This step is crucial for any device before it hits the market and becomes available for purchase.
Though the database doesn’t provide detailed specifications about the device, it does signal that we are moving nearer to its release. Typically, obtaining certification for sales in different markets is among the final stages preceding a product announcement.
This gadget is set to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X platform for power, positioning it as a premium model with a sturdy metal frame and an exceptional display – much like its bigger counterpart. It will also come with a custom keyboard attachment, along with some adjustments in design.
It’s likely that the compact Surface Pro model could sport sleeker, consistent bezels, similar to the Surface Go yet boasting curved screen edges. This design adjustment might give the device a more contemporary aesthetic, bringing it on par with the stylish elegance of an iPad.
Additionally, it’s anticipated that the compact version of the Surface Laptop will be unveiled together with the 12-inch Surface Pro. This smaller model is expected to sport a design similar to the larger 13.8-inch Surface Laptop. Notably, this new device will supersede the Surface Laptop Go, offering an enhanced display resolution and a backlit keyboard.
