Midra, the Lord of Frenzied Flame is a secretive boss character concealed within the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion in Elden Ring. Uncovering his whereabouts necessitates meticulous investigation and thorough exploration of the game’s environment.
In the trailer, this elusive boss character makes a brief appearance. With his unique and captivating design, players are unlikely to forget him once they’ve encountered him in the game.
Although most players may not come across him ordinarily, they would have to venture into deep darkness below in order to encounter him.
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame: where to find this boss
Midra, the Lord of Frenzied Flame, holds dominion over the Midra’s Manse dungeon, which can be found at the conclusion of the Abyssal Woods’ hidden level. Reaching this eerie forest requires traversing the Darklight Catacombs and defeating its final boss, Jori, the Elder Inquisitor.
As a seasoned gamer, I can tell you that Midra is surprisingly elusive in the game, with good reason from a lore perspective. The developers have done an impressive job making it hard to find this ancient and run-down adversary.
In the southern part of Scadu Altus, situated south of Bonny Village close to its watery ponds, you’ll find the enigmatic Darklight Catacombs hidden away.
Go through the Catacombs and defeat Jori, Elder Inquisitor to reach the Abyssal Woods.
In this hauntingly mysterious forest, players must find their way, encountering Elden Ring’s equivalents, the Aging Untouchables, akin to Winter Lanterns. For strategies on circumventing or defeating these foes, explore this guide.
In the southwestern part of the Abyssal Woods lies Midra’s Mansion. Brace yourself for a challenging encounter as you make your way through this residence to come face-to-face with its enigmatic master.

Boss fight tips and strategies
Initially, Midra may pitifully yell and lunge towards you, scuttling across the floor. Although he’s still capable of inflicting some harm with his grabbing lunge, he poses little danger.
Overcoming him will initiate a cutscene, marking the beginning of the genuine boss fight. At this point, Midra will be unleashed in all his fury as the Master of Raging Fire.
Clear as day, Midra is capable of dishing out substantial Fire damage. In close combat, he will administer both ordinary and piercing physical harm. Additionally, he can instill the Madness status effect upon striking an opponent.
To effectively deal with the Madness, players should aim to enhance their Focus stat. The Charm of Clarifying Horns and its more potent versions serve as effective charms for amplifying this ability. Another option includes utilizing Clarifying Boluses or invoking the Lucidity sorcery to alleviate the condition.
Midra possesses an unyielding resistance to Madness, a fact that is clearly evident. His resistance to Sleep, however, may not be as noticeable, making it a less effective strategy for those building around this debuff.
He is immune to the effects of Poison and Scarlet Rot, thereby delaying the accumulation of these statuses on him.
Midra is vulnerable to Slash damage and therefore an effective choice for melee fighters. An alternative strategy could be attempting parries; however, this would require landing three successful parries in succession to disrupt Midra’s stance and set up a riposte opportunity.
Another way to phrase this is: His composure isn’t very strong. Powerful jumps attacks can disrupt strength builds. For dexterity builds, inflicting bleed or freeze statuses would be effective.
For spellcasters, use non-Fire attacks and abuse your range advantage.
If you defeat Midra, you’ll earn a huge 410 thousand runes and his unique Remembrance.
