Previously, former child actor Shaun Weiss was unable to join his fellow actors for a reunion in the streaming sequel series that appeared on Disney+. Nevertheless, recent pictures shared online give him an opportunity to reunite with various cast members from the films.
At the Eerie Culture Fest in Ohio, Weiss, famously known for his role as Greg Goldberg in the Mighty Ducks films, posted some fresh snaps from the event where he was a celebrity guest. Joining him were other Mighty Ducks cast members such as Aaron Schwartz (Dave Karp), Matt Doherty (Lester Averman), and Marguerite Moreau (Connie Moreau) from the original trilogy, with Weiss and Schwartz having previously worked together in Heavyweights. Additionally, he shared photos with fellow child star Jonathan Lipnicki, best recognized for his roles in Stuart Little and Jerry McGuire. You can check out these pictures below.
In the Disney+ sequel series “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” Doherty and Moreau, along with several other original cast members such as Elden Henson (Fulton Reed), Garette Henson (Guy Germaine), Vincent A. LaRusso (Adam Banks), and Justin Wong (Ken Wu), made an appearance. Regrettably, the show was discontinued after two seasons and eventually removed from Disney+ in 2023. If the series were to be revived for a third season, there might have been an opportunity for Weiss to reprise his role as Goldberg, given that he had just come back to acting at the time when “Game Changers” was unexpectedly canceled on Disney+.
Shaun Weiss Has Returned to Performing
Although unfortunate timing prevented Weiss from appearing on the TV series, fans can look forward to seeing him reunite with his old pals from the Mighty Ducks movies. This could be a delightful surprise for many, as Weiss seems to be thriving in life after overcoming years of hardships following his childhood acting career. After maturing beyond his initial stardom, Weiss took a break from acting following a minor role in Drillbit Taylor (2008). However, he then stepped away from the spotlight for a while.
For several years, Weiss battled homelessness, drug addiction, and legal issues. His situation seemed dire, particularly after an arrest in January 2020 left fans stunned by his transformed appearance when fresh photos appeared online. A friend initiated a fundraising campaign to assist Weiss in regaining stability, with contributions pouring in from fans worldwide. Notably, Weiss celebrated five years of sobriety in January. He announced earlier that he had quit drugs after learning about his girlfriend Shannon’s pregnancy. The couple also revealed their plans for marriage.
Simultaneously, Weiss has returned to his entertainment line of work. In 2023, he landed a role in the movie “Jesus Revolution“, marking his comeback on the big screen and potentially reigniting his acting career. Additionally, Weiss has been showcasing his comedic skills through stand-up performances.
