Mikayla Nogueira is standing by her husband amid his journey to get sober again.
A few days following the TikToker’s disclosure that her partner Cody Hawken struggled with drug and alcohol addiction and entered a recovery facility, she divulged their strategies for maintaining their romantic connection during his treatment process.
Mikayla shared on her April 6 TikTok that for the past month, her husband has been at a rehab facility dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. Every week, they manage to squeeze in a small cafeteria date. She emphasized that the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is something she’s never found more accurate in her life.
While preparing for her weekly meeting with her husband, the 26-year-old shared how much she’s longed for his presence during his recuperation process.
The founder of POV Beauty explained, “For the past month, he’s been in rehab and our interactions have been limited. I only get to spend a brief hour with him on weekends, so I genuinely feel his absence.
Although the beauty influencer is grateful for the backing from her fans, she acknowledged that this admiration sometimes creates awkward scenarios in person. Specifically, she recounted an encounter with a staff member at her husband’s recovery center who expressed being a follower of hers videos. Due to the rules at the clinic, this individual ended up watching Mikayla’s entire private session with Cody.
She acknowledged, “That really feels uncomfortable for me.” She explained, “It’s as if I can’t have any intimate, personal discussions with my husband, because there’s someone sitting beside me who declared they are a big admirer of mine.
As she put it, “It was wicked uncomfortable.”
Still, Mikayla emphasized that she is happy her husband is getting the help he needs.
She clarified, “I’m absolutely rooting for Cody to the max! I’m here supporting him throughout his adventure. I have complete faith in him at each stride, and I truly believe he has what it takes. There’s no doubt in my mind that if anyone can accomplish this feat, it’s definitely Cody.
Here’s my take as a lifestyle expert, written in the first person:
In my latest update, I want to share some personal insights about my journey these past few days. You might recall that I mentioned some challenging times with my husband, who has grappled with addiction in the past. Regrettably, he recently relapsed and was compelled to seek treatment away from our shared home, a situation that occurred back in December.
As we navigate this difficult period together, I remain hopeful for his recovery and our future as a couple. I’ll keep you posted on our progress and the lessons learned along the way. Stay tuned!
The Tiktoker admitted that Cody’s decision to enter rehab was a huge weight off her shoulders.
She described her emotions as not being able to express the restlessness of sleepless nights, nights filled with concern about her husband. However, she is now relieved because for the past six weeks, he has been in a secure location receiving treatment, assistance, and charting his course towards sobriety.

The Valley star shared his decades-long battle with drugs in March 2025 after going to rehab.
During the March 4th episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Jax confessed that he has struggled with addiction and specifically with cocaine. He admitted it isn’t easy for him to openly discuss this issue.
He said, “I’ve had periods of facing this issue, off and on, ever since I turned 23. Now, at the age of 45, I find myself reflecting on this. At some points, I would abstain from it, but other times, I found myself indulging excessively.
Apart from quitting cocaine, Jax has also stopped consuming alcohol, acknowledging that they often go together for him. He stated, “I’m not sure if I have an alcohol problem, but it seems to be a pair. I can’t use cocaine without drinking first. Consequently, I decided to give up both substances. I am now 82 or 83 days free from them, which is the longest stretch I’ve ever had in my life.
In 2022, the actor who played Spider-Man in “No Way Home” decided to quit alcohol after recognizing he felt trapped by it. As he put it on the podcast “On Purpose with Jay Shetty”, he was indeed addicted to alcohol and acknowledged this openly. He suggested that anyone who drinks beer daily might have a developing issue.
After that, you’d find yourself in a situation where you might think, “Oh, I wish I hadn’t had that extra drink,” the actor went on. The following morning, you’d likely be dealing with a throbbing headache.
After adopting the new lifestyle, Holland observed that he’s been able to “sleep more soundly” and “manage issues more effectively.
He revealed, “Issues that used to stress me out on the set, I could handle with ease now. My mental state was incredibly clearer. I felt more healthy and energetic.
The main character from “Hunt for Red October” seldom discusses his alcohol recovery journey, a path he embarked on nearly four decades back.
He mentioned during his May 2024 podcast that he doesn’t frequently talk about this topic, but occasionally does so when it seems appropriate. He has been sober for 39 years, achieving sobriety on February 23, 1985.
1983 found me trading the bustling energy of New York City for the sun-kissed landscapes of Los Angeles. However, my new life here wasn’t just about soaking up the California sun – no, this move ignited a blazing struggle that consumed me for two tumultuous years. I could as easily have inhaled a mountain range of cocaine as I did lines, enough to reach Saturn and beyond. It was an all-day affair, like coffee was for everyone else – a constant companion, fueling my days and nights alike.
And after quitting the drug, he soon turned to alcohol—only to also quit that dependency.
Today, he relies on the city around him.
He expressed that New York brings him peace, revealing fresh perspectives as he explores it. “I find myself noticing details in buildings I’ve never seen before, like those doors,” he said. “I enjoy leisurely meals and coffees with friends there.
In an interview with the New York Times in April 2024, the former star of The Princess Diaries announced that she has been sober for over five years. She expressed that this achievement marks a significant milestone for her.
Her understanding was straightforward; she confided, “I instinctively knew it wasn’t suitable for me.” And it seemed so intense to have to declare, ‘Absolutely not?’ But absolutely not. If you have an allergy or suffer severe reactions to something, you don’t debate it. So I chose to stop debating it.
She’s pleased with her choice, as she put it, “I find things have significantly improved since then.” For her, it served as a stepping stone rather than a place to dwell on problems. And, to clarify, she’s not fond of dwelling on issues.
In 2018, as I gratefully received the Woman of the Year Award bestowed upon me by the Peggy Albrecht Friendly House – a remarkable sanctuary for women battling substance and alcohol addiction – I shared my personal journey of the self-destructive path that came close to sabotaging my professional life.
Reflecting on my life, I believe there are pivotal moments that significantly mold our identities and future paths. Early in my career, I found myself sliding towards self-destruction, despite any achievements I garnered. Regardless of my successes, I always felt inadequate, a feeling that persisted. At the time, I didn’t comprehend why, but looking back, it seems like some higher power may have been guiding me. Perhaps it was divine intervention.
In 2012, Moore acknowledged gratitude towards two individuals who were not well-acquainted with her, as they presented a challenging proposition for her to transform her life. Essentially, they told her that she needed to change or face potential consequences, to which she humorously responded, “Unless I was deceased, I should appear.” She further explained that this encounter gave her an opportunity to alter the trajectory of her life and prevent it from falling apart completely.
Moore pointed out that they perceived more of his true self than he did himself. He’s deeply thankful for this insight as it was their faith in him that has ultimately led to him being here today.
In 2022, Cyrus revealed that she has been recovering from her Xanax addiction since 2020. She explained to Rolling Stone, “It provided a much-needed structure in my life when I needed it most, as I didn’t want to be aimlessly wandering and overthinking.” She added, “It gave me something to hold onto – hope.
The performer remarked, ‘When I believed there was a moment to mute the world and dull your sorrow, it was all done.’
She mentioned that her friends at one point seemed to tacitly approve of her drug habit, which eventually turned into a deep, endless abyss for her. However, during the pandemic, Cyrus acknowledged struggling with difficulties and feeling emotionally detached. “I found myself drifting off and even falling asleep,” she reminisced, adding that she couldn’t maintain focus or keep her eyes open due to being so deeply immersed in her condition.
She eventually sought help and noted that “it took some time to get on my own two feet.”
16 years ago, the former star of “Parenthood” had been living a sober life, but in 2020, following a motorbike mishap, he resumed using Vicodin.
For the past eight weeks or so, he mentioned during his “Armchair Expert” podcast, “I’ve been using them quite extensively throughout the day, and I can do so because I have a prescription for it. However, I’m also increasing the effect with additional dosage.
He went on to express his dislike for the situation, admitting he was deceiving others. He acknowledged the need to stop but found that his tolerance was escalating rapidly, now consuming approximately eight 30mg doses daily. He understood that this quantity would lead to a severe withdrawal, causing fear and loneliness. He felt burdened by a massive secret.
2018 saw the actress who starred in Halloween openly discussing her decade-long struggle with opiate addiction that started in the late ’80s following a minor cosmetic surgery to address her inherited puffy eyes. This led to a prescription that significantly impacted her life. In an interview with People, she confessed, “I had a ten-year stint of stealing and manipulating, all while keeping my struggle hidden from everyone.
In the summer of 1998, when Curtis’s sister visited and brought painkillers for a rib injury she had prescribed, Curtis admitted that was her lowest point. “I knew she kept them in our guest room closet,” she shared with the publication, tears welling up as she remembered. “I essentially took all her opiates before she left. I knew when she was packing her suitcase to go home, she would notice her pills were missing. I had to confess to her what I did, so I wrote a note and left it on her suitcase. When she returned home that day, she wrapped her arms around me and expressed her love, concern, and unwillingness to watch me self-destruct.
On February 3, 1999, she participated in her initial gathering, coincidentally the same day she disclosed her personal struggle to her filmmaker spouse, Christopher Guest. “He couldn’t believe it, as he had never sensed it before,” Curtis remarked, further stating that she has remained sober since then.
In 2021, Barrymore, who has previously sought treatment for alcohol and drug addiction, publicly announced a significant achievement in her recovery journey. On the show “CBS Mornings“, she declared, “For the first time in a long while, I’m admitting this: It’s been two and a half years since I last had a drink of alcohol.” She added, “I recognized that it was something that didn’t benefit me in my life.
She remarked, “It’s quite amusing. Uncovering ourselves, our secrets, and what we’ve labored on intensely, it’s a mix of feeling liberated and exposed simultaneously.
Later on, Barrymore clarified to the Los Angeles Times that she avoids the term “sober” as she doesn’t want others to perceive her as a “perfectly pious Puritan.
In the year 2023, she expressed, “For a long time, I’d been telling myself, ‘I’ll conquer this, I’ll find a solution,’ but eventually, it dawned on me: ‘This thing, I never truly mastered it and I never will.’
During the early 2000s, the actor from “A Star Is Born” battled a cocaine addiction. Eventually, his friend Will Arnett intervened and addressed his concerns about his actions.
During his 2022 interview on the Smartless podcast, Cooper vividly remembered that moment as the first time he acknowledged his struggle with substance abuse, an experience he would never forget.
Citing Arnett as the catalyst, Cooper stated, “He bravely engaged in a challenging discussion with me, which ultimately guided me towards making the choice to alter my lifestyle.
The main character from Fight Club overcame years of alcohol addiction, thanks to Cooper, who eventually helped him achieve sobriety. At the 2020 National Board of Review Annual Awards, he expressed his gratitude to the audience, stating that “I have been living a happier life every day since then” after receiving a trophy from Cooper.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share an exciting personal milestone I achieved in September 2023. It marked the longest stretch since my teenage years that I’ve managed to abstain from having any form of nicotine or marijuana, along with other substances, in my system.
He expressed gratitude for the liberation experienced after overcoming addictions and freeing oneself from the grip of substances, stating, “Achieving sobriety brings a sense of clarity and spiritual well-being that is truly fulfilling.
Following a heartfelt announcement of six years without alcohol during her tour in 2018, the singer left fans astounded later that year with the unveiling of the introspective song “Sober”, disclosing that she had experienced a lapse.
In simpler terms, “Mom, I apologize for losing control again. Dad, please forgive me for the mess I made with the spilled drinks. To those who always stand by me, I’m truly sorry, but right now I’ve lost my sobriety once more.” She expressed this sentiment through her song.
A month later, Lovato was hospitalized for a near-fatal overdose.
She shared on Instagram two weeks ago that she has been open about her struggles with addiction. What she’s discovered is that this condition doesn’t simply vanish or weakens over time. Instead, it’s a battle she must continue to fight and hasn’t won yet…She needs time now to mend and prioritize her sobriety and path to recovery. The affection you’ve all shown me will never be forgotten, and I eagerly anticipate the day when I can declare victory over this challenge. I will persist in my struggle.
In 2018, she mentioned her struggles with addictions, specifically to sex and alcohol. “My addictions tend to shift. They change from one thing to another. When I was younger, I believe I may have had a sexual addiction, yes, that I thought everything could be resolved through sex,” she explained, before discussing the moment she recognized she had a drinking problem that was cause for concern.
She recalled hitting a low point when she was alone in the house and found herself about to open her third bottle of wine. She paused and thought, “Wait a minute. Here you are, all alone in this house, already on your third bottle of wine. There could be an issue here.
She shared, “I chose to quit abruptly, or ‘go cold turkey.’ It’s typical of me to do this. I need to be careful with my habits because I tend to get too engrossed in things.
It’s not about the action itself, but the reasons behind it. For instance, if you enjoy having a lot of sexual experiences, that’s perfectly fine, but you should consider why you’re engaging in such activities frequently. That’s what’s important to examine.
A member of the Backstreet Boys admitted to experimenting with drugs for the first time prior to filming the music video for “The Call” in 2000. In a later interview with Good Morning America, he shared that he felt incredibly energetic during the shoot. After achieving sobriety in 2021, he experienced numerous positive changes within a year, such as shedding 32 pounds over a seven-month period by giving up alcohol and fast food.
In September 2022, I shared with Today that excessive drinking led to an increase in my weight, but it also took a toll on my mental wellbeing.
Following Mac Miller’s untimely demise, the rapper known as Bow Wow admitted on Twitter that he had battled a cough syrup addiction in the past. He warned his followers about the dangers of drugs, sharing his personal experience with lean (a type of cough syrup) during the recording of the FACE OFF album with Omarion.
“Stop playing around with these stupid drugs,” Bow Wow wrote. “I’m going to let you in on a secret. During the making of the FACE OFF album and when I appeared on BET arguing with Torae, I was high on lean every day! My attitude changed, my fans turned against me, even my family. I never promoted lean in my songs. I was taking at least 7 doses of it daily while on tour with Chris Brown [Brown]. I was addicted until our show in Cincinnati… I passed out backstage and woke up in the hospital, suffering from withdrawals.”
“I’ve never felt pain like that before,” Bow Wow continued. “It was summer, but I was walking around with three hoodies on because I was so cold. I missed shows in Chicago and Baltimore because I was high and sick! That’s not cool, and I was doing it to fit in! Stay away from drugs! Be a good child or teenager. Strive to be the best version of yourself. I’ll start being more vocal. We need to save the youth from dying young. Parents, pay attention to your children. Explain to them the dangers. We want you to live, not die from drug overdose.”
“To this day, my stomach has been affected, and it never will be the same,” Bow Wow concluded. “Stay sober is the way to go. Smarten up, tighten up out here. We can’t afford to lose any more of you. Not one! I love all of you. To all young artists and kids around the world, don’t follow trends. Break the cycle. Peace.
2018 saw Gwyneth Paltrow’s husband, Chris Martin, and close friend, Orlando Bloom, staging an intervention after a series of events involving drug and alcohol abuse. The incidents culminated when she inadvertently headbutted Orlando at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party, causing her to lose consciousness. This was a turning point for the singer as she had been battling addiction issues, which she details in her fourth studio album “No Shame” and memoir “My Thoughts Exactly”.
She shared with The Guardian, “I felt nothing could touch or fulfill me during those difficult times. One morning, as I contemplated my situation, I thought to myself, ‘Perhaps heroin might offer some relief, since nothing else seems effective.’
In the 1980s, an actor from The Parent Trap struggled with cocaine addiction, which eventually led him to rehab in 1990. He shared his story on Today, mentioning that he came of age during the ’60s and ’70s when the societal view towards drugs was significantly more lenient.
In 2018, he confessed that his drug use during the 1980s was quite frequent and almost daily, amounting to a significant portion of some movie budgets. He shared how he would often plead with God to remove this addiction from him, promising never to return to it once he had to go to work in just an hour. However, by 4 in the afternoon, he’d think, “It’s not so bad.
He shared an account he called a profound, blinding moment where he envisioned himself either deceased or losing all that held significance to him. Overwhelmed, he needed to sit down with his then-fiancée, Meg Ryan, and clarify the situation. Following this, he sought professional assistance. This marked the end of his tumultuous relationship with cocaine.
Following an event in Newport Beach where Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte attempted to break down his hotel room door, Lochte opted to seek treatment in 2018. His representative shared with TopMob News that Lochte has struggled with alcohol addiction for a long time, and unfortunately, this struggle has led him into destructive behavior. He has realized he needs professional help to overcome this issue, and he will begin receiving treatment immediately.
Ryan understands that overcoming this illness is crucial for him to prevent future mistakes, to become the best husband and father possible, and if he aspires to reach his aim of reclaiming dominance in swimming during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
It was primarily due to his connection with his current spouse, Melanie Lynskey, that the former star of “Parenthood” decided to give up alcohol despite understanding that it’s generally not advisable to get sober for someone else.
During my chat on The Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023, I shared that at one point, I recognized her exceptional qualities and believed she deserved someone truly remarkable. However, I found myself questioning whether I fit the bill, feeling just a tad bit unconventional or perhaps overly passionate.
However, as Ritter noted to TopMob News, he now sees that sobriety is ultimately a personal choice.
He mentioned that back in the beginning of their relationship, he found it less difficult to claim he was acting on her behalf because, at that point, he didn’t have a high opinion of his self-worth. Instead, he placed more importance on avoiding causing her pain rather than inflicting harm upon himself. Thus, it was simpler for him to assert, “I’m doing this for her.” Now, however, he is motivated by the desire to act for himself.
For almost a decade now, the nation’s singer has maintained sobriety, but the path to this point was challenging. His struggle with alcohol and prescription pain medications started shortly after his high school graduation and persisted even as his career flourished. He would always carry a black leather briefcase containing bottles of Jagermeister or vodka within easy reach, as he once confessed to People. During the day, every hour and a half to two hours, he would take multiple drinks from the bottle, and every three to four hours, he would consume a couple of pills.
He acknowledged that it didn’t hinder his achievements, as he was not faltering daily. Instead, he was operating at full capacity – composing more melodies back then than he does currently. That was the unsettling aspect for him.
In late 2011, he was admitted to the hospital due to pancreatitis, and was warned that if he didn’t stop drinking, he might not live to see his next birthday. He attempted to make changes on his own, thinking things like, “I’ll just take two pills today, or I’ll only drink this much from my bottle and mark it,” but these efforts would last a few days until someone organized another party.
Ultimately, he decided to ask for assistance, admitting himself into rehab on December 18, 2011. As he put it, “I reached a point where I realized I needed help, and it infuriated and humiliated me. I’m quite determined, but this was one battle I couldn’t win alone.
