As a die-hard fan of Millie Bobby Brown, I can’t help but be thrilled about her latest project – bringing her debut novel “Nineteen Steps” to life at Netflix. With her impressive resume that includes Stranger Things, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Damsel, it’s no surprise she’s taking on another genre-bending role.

Actress Millie Bobby Brown, best known for her role in Stranger Things, is said to be working on a movie adaptation of her upcoming debut novel, Nineteen Steps, at Netflix. As she has a longstanding relationship with the streaming service, her book is due to be published next month. The story takes place during World War II and follows a romance between a British teenager and an American soldier stationed in London. This historical romance is set against the backdrop of the Bethnal Green Tube disaster, a real-life event where nearly 200 lives were lost. According to Deadline, who initially reported this news, Anthony McCarten (known for The Theory of Everything) will pen the screenplay for the adaptation.

Besides earning Emmy and SAG Award nominations for “Stranger Things,” Brown has also starred in genre films such as “Godzilla vs. Kong” (produced by Warner Bros.) and “Damsel” (streamed on Netflix), where she portrayed a princess battling a dragon. Her upcoming project is “The Electric State,” directed by the Russo Brothers, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Ke Huy Quan. This film will premiere on Netflix in March.

The Bethnal Green Underground Station in London served as a subway stop. During World War II, this station was transformed into an air raid shelter. A tragic incident portrayed in Brown’s book is regarded as the largest civilian casualty event during the war. In this event, 173 people lost their lives due to a chaotic surge of people rushing towards the tube station for safety reasons.
