MindsEye Gets New Teaser Trailer Focusing on a Conversation During a Car Chase

Following the recent promotional efforts for the narrative shooter game “MindsEye”, its developer Build A Rocket Boy has unveiled a fresh teaser trailer. Contrary to previous trailers, this one primarily features a dialogue between protagonist Jacob Diaz and a character named Claudia. Here’s your opportunity to watch it below.

The dialogue between Jacob and Claudia occurs during a high-speed pursuit by car. Jacob is pursuing Claudia to obtain information, but she appears reluctant to disclose it. In the end, Jacob manages to get Claudia to reveal who she’s working for, although her response is mysterious and leaves more questions than answers for Jacob.

In contrast to the high-octane sequences in the earlier sneak peek, the latest trailer for MindsEye offers a glimpse into the handling of vehicles within the game. It appears that the driving mechanics lean towards an arcade approach, allowing for effortless turns without excessive focus on braking. Moreover, there’s a hint at potential pedestrian collisions and visible car damage when the player crashes into another vehicle while making a turn.

In the prior sneak peek, there was a stronger emphasis on ground-level activities, hinting that MindsEye will deliver traditional third-person shooter gameplay with a cover system included. The character, Jacob, can apparently be armed with various types of weapons such as pistols, submachine guns, and shotguns. To conclude, the previous teaser ended just before an exciting car chase began. In contrast to where it left off, the chase shown in the latest teaser appears to be a separate mission altogether.

In April, assistant game director Adam Whiting shared insights on how the camera mechanics in MindsEye will significantly contribute to making the action sequences feel more intense. He explained that during fast-paced car chases, the camera will separate as you navigate sharp turns at high speeds, simulating the sensation of being on the verge of losing control, much like in a Fast & Furious movie. Whiting revealed that the entire camera system and vehicle controls for this game were created using Unreal Engine 5.4, with careful consideration given to various factors influencing a vehicle’s handling, such as controls, tire grip, suspension, and weight transfer.

As the release date of June 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S approaches, Whiting hinted that the game “MindsEye” would approximately take gamers around 15 hours to complete. Moreover, he highlighted that the game promises a smoothly-timed gaming experience, ensuring players will feel satisfied upon wrapping up its narrative.

Whiting pointed out that the gaming landscape has evolved, and it seems producers are aiming to create large-scale service games due to their high production costs. However, he emphasized the value of a deeply engaging, thoughtfully paced, and expertly crafted narrative game that offers moments of tension, character growth, tender instances, and dramatic spectacles for players to lose themselves in.
