MindsEye is About 15 Hours Long, as Developer Aims for a “Meaningful, Well-Crafted” Story

The game titled “Build A Rocket Boy’s MindsEye” has been given a release date and is generating buzz due to the innovative mind behind it – ex-president of Rockstar North, Leslie Benzie. The latest trailer unveils Redrock City, a city under the influence of two powerful entities – Silva Industries and Mayor Vega. However, it seems this isn’t an entirely open world as one might expect but rather a “simulated open world.

In conversation with Eurogamer, the developer shared that the game MindsEye is a single-thread narrative, estimated to be completed within approximately 15 hours of playtime. Adam Whiting, who serves as the assistant game director, believes that such a well-constructed story stands out in an industry that’s currently focusing on finding the next successful live service game.

It seems the environment has shifted, and I get the feeling developers are focusing on creating large-scale, ongoing game services due to the high costs associated with game production. However, there’s an argument for a thoughtfully crafted narrative that offers a captivating storyline, paced effectively, with character growth, emotional moments, suspenseful scenes, and dramatic instances for players to experience and become engrossed in.

Ultimately, our goal is to offer you an engaging, time-respectful story that you can unwind with at the end of your busy day, whether it’s spent in the office or elsewhere.

MindsEye deviates from the standard $70 price point of current AAA games, opting for a cost of $59.99 instead. While primarily offering a linear adventure, the Deluxe Edition includes a Premium Pass and an ARCADIA-created Horde mode mission. This edition promises “new gameplay regularly,” though the specifics are yet to be disclosed.

MindsEye launches on June 10th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
