Oh man, finding myself in a bind with MindsEye, huh? Seems even Sony’s offering refunds for this one, something they typically only do for games that really push the limits, like the infamous PS4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch.
Currently holding the lowest Metacritic score among all PS5 games this year, at a rating of 38, it has officially earned the title of the worst-reviewed game. Interestingly, the game above it on the list, Ambulance Life: A Paramedic Simulator, boasts a higher aggregate rating of 44, significantly outranking it.
To earn an average rating, a game needs to garner at least four evaluations from a reputable online source. Given the ongoing contraction of the video game media industry, obtaining this number of reviews has become increasingly challenging.
Moving forward, numerous games published these days are too many for publications like ours to review thoroughly due to time constraints. Since MindsEye was a significant title, we made an exception and covered it, but unfortunately, many other promising titles often go unnoticed. In essence, there may be dozens of games launched in 2025 that are inferior to Build a Rocket Boy’s debut, yet they might have been overlooked.
To put it simply, while MindsEye certainly has its issues and may not be the best game released this year, it’s currently looking like the one we might label as the worst, assuming no other game surpasses it in poor quality.
At least it appears to be selling surprisingly well, huh?
