MindsEye Will Use a Frantic Camera to Let Players Feel Like They Are “On the Edge of Control”

As a gamer myself, I’m thrilled to share that I’m deeply immersed in crafting our next action masterpiece, “MindsEye”, at Build A Rocket Boy. In an exclusive chat with Edge (via GamesRadar), Assistant Game Director Adam Whiting unveiled an exhilarating aspect of the game: a dynamic camera system that will make players feel like they‘re dancing on the razor’s edge, where losing control could be just a heartbeat away. Interestingly, this high-octane action title seems to draw inspiration from the adrenaline-pumping Fast & Furious movie franchise.

As described by Whiting, during intense scenarios such as a fast-paced car chase, the camera is intentionally separated from the action when turns are taken at high speeds. This technique aims to create a sensation that the viewer is close to losing control, similar to the experience of watching a Fast & Furious movie.

Despite appearing as if it’s about to shatter under player control, Whiting assures us that players will possess complete, finely-tuned control over the camera within the game. Regarding the gameplay mechanics, Whiting also emphasized that players would be capable of performing precise maneuvers, such as coordinating the throttle, brake, and handbrake simultaneously to ensure they maintain total control of their vehicle at all times.

During the interview, Whiting shared that they meticulously crafted the control system for the game’s vehicles using Unreal Engine version 5.4. They paid close attention to numerous factors influencing vehicle control such as tire traction, suspension, and even the redistribution of weight.

The video game titled “MindsEye” is scheduled for launch on June 10th. It’s set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Developed by Build A Rocket Boy, a studio led by Leslie Benzies who has previously worked with Rockstar North, this game marks their first significant release. The price of the game is $59.99.

The planned launch date for the game was officially announced in March, together with a trailer revealing some of the adversarial entities players will encounter within the game’s environment, Redrock City. Among the figures displayed were Marco Silver, the founder of Silva Industries, and Vega, who holds the position of mayor in the city.

In February, two trailers were unveiled for the game, each highlighting different aspects. One trailer concentrated on the game’s narrative, while the other showcased its fast-paced action sequences. The game, MindsEye, is reported to revolve around several themes, with the developers indicating that artificial intelligence, human avarice, and the struggle for dominance play significant roles in the storyline.

In March, it was disclosed that the game “MindsEye” is expected to last approximately 15 hours for players to complete. Moreover, the studio has been working diligently on crafting a game with a balanced pace and an engaging narrative that players will enjoy concluding.

As a game enthusiast, I get it that the gaming world has evolved, and let me tell you, creating these games isn’t cheap. It seems like developers are aiming to create large-scale, live service games. However, I strongly believe in the power of a compelling, thoughtfully paced story that players can truly lose themselves in. A story with moments of tension, character growth, tender moments, and grand spectacles is what makes gaming an immersive experience.
