As an analyst, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news for Minecraft enthusiasts like myself. Mojang has just released a new trailer announcing the imminent launch of the Vibrant Visuals update, scheduled for June 17! This release will be accompanied by the highly anticipated ‘Chase the Skies’ update, which introduces a long-awaited feature – rideable Happy Ghasts! For those eager to catch a glimpse of this upcoming adventure, I encourage you to watch the trailer below.
Previously, both updates were unveiled at Minecraft Live, however, now they are being officially released across all platforms.
Vibrant Visuals for compatible Bedrock versions
The updated visuals in the Bedrock version of Minecraft will significantly improve its appearance, offering improved textures, better directional lighting, advanced reflections, and much more. My associate and fellow Minecraft enthusiast Zachary Boddy has gathered all the essential information about these enhanced visuals, along with some useful comparison images for your perusal.
Chase the Skies, aka welcome Happy Ghasts!
Shifting from Laptop to Xbox Console for a Joyride with the New Happy Ghast in Chase the Skies on June 17
The main attraction of Chase the Skies is undeniably Minecraft’s latest flying companion, but don’t expect an instant flight experience. To ride one, you’ll first need to venture into the Nether, gather (or manufacture) dried Ghasts, transform them with water into Ghastlings, and nurture them gently with snowballs until they’re ready for flight (once we’ve mastered crafting saddles).
And here’s a fun fact: Up to five players can enjoy a shared skyward adventure together!
The Player Locator Bar is a new multiplayer tool

As a Minecraft analyst, I can attest that getting lost in this virtual world was once a common rite of passage for many players, including myself – a predicament I now avoid by always keeping my coordinates on. However, the introduction of the Player Locator bar has significantly simplified the task of rescuing lost comrades.
This new feature displays player positions as color-coded dots in the usual location of your Experience (XP) bar. Elevation arrows provide useful information about whether your friend is exploring deep underground caves or scaling towering mountains.
For those who prefer to stay incognito, just remember to crouch to become undetectable on the radar!
Leads and Saddles update

Revamped leads are now made simply from strings, giving you the flexibility to attach them to virtually anything within the game. For instance, if you fancy hanging a boat from your Flying Ghast, go ahead! However, leashing other players is still off-limits, so unfortunately I can’t prevent my son from running around in the game unsupervised.
On a related note, saddles have also been made craftable, and they can be removed using shears if needed.
New tunes

For music enthusiasts and avid collectors alike, a fresh music disc is set to appear from common ghasts within the game, accompanied by five new ambient tracks from Amos Roddy. This major update could very well be one of the largest Minecraft has seen in quite some time. Are you planning on diving into this exciting overhaul? Share your thoughts below!
On June 17th, “Chase the Skies” will be accessible for both Java and Bedrock versions. This release comes packed with all the latest gameplay features. Initially, “Vibrant Visuals” is exclusive to supported Bedrock devices such as Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4/5, Android, iOS, and PCs running DirectX 12 at launch.
