As a long-time PlayStation user and avid collector of digital collectibles through the PlayStation Stars program, I’m thrilled that the system is finally coming back online after being down for over a month. However, my excitement is tinged with frustration as I’ve heard reports from fellow users about missing collectibles and incorrect point tracking.
Following a lengthy outage during an unfortunate timing, PlayStation’s digital rewards system, PlayStation Stars, has been restored for various regions. The malfunction occurred during the Days of Play promotion approximately a month ago, leaving several users unable to maximize their savings by earning more PlayStation Stars points. These points could be later exchanged for collectibles or even store credit.
Over the past week, PlayStation Stars users have been receiving notifications that the program is about to be reactivated. More and more individuals have reported online that they have gained access to it in recent days. The implementation process isn’t fully finished yet, but it continues to progress.
Despite the PlayStation Stars platform being back online, some users have reported discrepancies in their collections. The PlayStation Stars subreddit is filled with posts from frustrated players who are double-checking their inventories and discovering missing collectibles. One such post mentioned the preorder bonus for “God of War Ragnarok,” while others cited a Symbiote collectible from “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.” Many more have added to the conversation, expressing similar concerns over these specific collectibles.
In separate posts, users have shared images of their PlayStation Stars activity logs, revealing a discrepancy between the points they should have earned from June purchases and what is actually displayed. With PlayStation Stars currently offline for an extended period, it’s understandable that some transactions may take time to update and show up accurately in users’ point tallies. However, it’s concerning that this issue persists even after the service has been reinstated.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that PlayStation doesn’t provide much information about PlayStation Stars beyond notifications in the app and occasional blog posts detailing new features each month. However, we might receive more updates on resolving the current issues with PlayStation Stars after the rollout is completed.
