After providing a brief sneak peek a few days back, the full details for MLB The Show 25 have now been unveiled, including its release date. This year marks the 20th anniversary of MLB The Show. Originating from MLB 06: The Show on PlayStation 2, this series has since expanded to become a multi-platform franchise that consistently launches on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo systems each year. However, for MLB The Show 25, the developers at San Diego Studio have decided to cease support for certain platforms that the series previously catered to.
As a die-hard gamer, I’m pumped to share that this year, we’ve got MLB The Show 25 dropping on March 18th! For the very first time in the game’s history, we’re seeing multiple MLB legends grace the cover instead of just one athlete. This time around, we’ve got Elly De La Cruz from the Cincinnati Reds, Gunnar Henderson from the Baltimore Orioles, and Paul Skenes from the Pittsburgh Pirates. These three are some of the hottest young talents in baseball right now, so it makes perfect sense to see them on MLB The Show 25! Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
The most significant detail regarding MLB The Show 25 is that it marks the end of San Diego Studio’s support for previous-generation hardware. Previously, they had been releasing the series on both PS4 and Xbox One platforms in addition to the new PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, with MLB The Show 25, this practice will change as the game will only be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
Next week on February 4th, I can hardly wait to witness the first gameplay footage unveiled for MLB The Show 25! That’s also when pre-orders for the game will kick off. Following that, each week will bring fresh reveals for MLB The Show 25, culminating in its release in March.
