As a seasoned movie critic with a soft spot for Disney animations and a penchant for Polynesian rhythms, I must say that the tracklist for Moana 2 has me more than excited! The original Moana soundtrack was a game-changer, and I can already feel the same magic in this lineup.
As we’re a fortnight from the debut of Moana 2, Disney is already stirring anticipation among fans for the music of this upcoming sequel. On Thursday, Disney Music unveiled “Beyond,” the first track on the soundtrack of Moana 2. This song, which the creative team refers to as a “spiritual successor” to the original Moana‘s hit tune, “How Far I’ll Go.
The “Beyond” tune that Disney has recently unveiled is actually the one that will be played during the film’s end credits, not the version you’ll see within the movie itself. Take a listen to the new track from Moana 2 in the video above!
Besides debuting the initial single off the Moana 2 soundtrack, Disney additionally revealed the full list of tracks on the upcoming album.

The upcoming movie Moana 2 has a significant task ahead in terms of its music, as the soundtrack from the initial Moana has made a lasting impression in Disney’s recent history. Notably, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was instrumental in the original film’s music, will not be returning for the sequel. Instead, the original songwriters Opetaia Foa’i and Mark Mancina are collaborating with the Grammy-winning duo of Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve got to say that ‘Beyond’ carries a deeper, more intense vibe compared to ‘How Far I’ll Go’. The reason? The character is on the brink of a life-altering choice. With newfound knowledge about the world and its possibilities, she’s aware of what lies ahead – and let me tell you, that can be quite daunting.
Moana 2 is set to hit theaters everywhere on November 27th.
