As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran who’s been through countless hunts and survived more Rathalos roars than I can count, the latest update on Monster Hunter Wilds has got me absolutely pumped! The graphical modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sound like they’ll make the already stunning visuals even more breathtaking.
During a fresh community update stream prior to the game’s launch, the team behind Monster Hunter Wilds detailed the modifications and enhancements that will be made to the game. It was mentioned in recent previews that visual improvements would occur, but Capcom has now specified the graphical options for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
On the PS5 and Xbox Series X, you can choose between “Optimize Graphics” and “Optimize Framerate”. The first option delivers graphics at 30 frames per second (FPS) with a resolution of 3072×1728, which is then upscaled to 4K (2160p). On the other hand, the “Optimize Framerate” mode runs at 60 FPS and renders at 1080p before being outputted in 4K (2160p). The Xbox Series S only offers a single mode that operates at 30 FPS while rendering and displaying at 1080p.
In the open beta, we saw the use of Checkerboard Rendering, but upon release, the game will employ AMD FSR for image upscaling instead. Additionally, a rendering issue in Prioritize Framerate mode has been rectified, enhancing performance. Notably, PS5 Pro compatibility will be accessible immediately at launch via a day one patch.
As a gamer, I’m excited to hear that for my PC setup, Capcom might be considering toning down the minimum requirements and even providing a benchmark tool prior to the game’s release. This could mean more of us will be able to enjoy their upcoming title without worrying about system compatibility!
Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
