Monster Hunter Wilds Developers Detail May 28 Ver. 1.011 Update

Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, has spilled the beans about what fans can expect from the May 28 Ver. 1.011 update. This update promises a plethora of fresh features and adjustments to the game, as well as a partnership with Street Fighter 6.

In his recent Director’s Letter, Tokuda announced that the team is aiming to deliver enhanced entertainment for players and further improve the enjoyment of Monster Hunter Wilds. Among the improvements, Akuma from Street Fighter has been introduced as a new character. Players can expect to receive a complete Akuma armor set, along with layered armor. When either set is worn, three items – assisted combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken – will be automatically added to your item bar. For more details, check out the official Monster Hunter website.

In Version 1.011, we’re adding some tough eight-star monsters for you to battle. Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad will become huntable when you reach HR 41 and above. These aren’t the only eight-star tempered monsters available; Arkveld is still around, but he can also be hunted at a seven-star difficulty. The eight-star versions, though, are tougher, with higher health, increased resistance to wounds, and adjustments to multiplayer scaling. Tokuda cautions that the Tempered Gore Magala presents a “tough challenge even for skilled hunters.” As your Hunter Rank rises, you’ll notice more challenging quests and quests featuring multiple monsters appearing more frequently.

In Version 1.011 and Title Update 2, you’ll notice several changes aimed at improving the balance for each player character. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun have all undergone adjustments, with some aspects of the Gunlance Artian weapons seeing an increase as well.

According to Tokuda, while certain settings on some weapons have been reduced, others have been increased. When considering these changes collectively, he suggests you’ll find that all weapon types now offer more potential. He recommends experimenting with them once the update is released, as he also mentioned enhancements for the Hammer and Dual Blades.

In addition to other quality of life improvements, players as Hunters can now take a break at the Grand Hub and Suja, Peaks of Accord. Taking a rest will automatically repair any destroyed Pop-up Camps. Moreover, when your item pouch is full, you won’t see a confirmation window after acquiring an item; instead, the new item will be directly moved to your item box. The timer for meal effects has also been enhanced, displaying the remaining 10 minutes before expiration. Notifications have been revised across the game, with their occurrence rate reduced in various locales. Only critical targets will now appear in the environment overview, and these notifications no longer obstruct the map-opening input.

As previously noted in the director’s letter, you’ll have the opportunity to examine the specific endemic life forms you’ve recorded. In the Windward Plains, navigate to Ecological Research and select ‘Check Endemic Life’. Here, you can view your captured creatures, their names, sizes, weights of caught fish, and even mark favorites so they’re preserved beyond your storage limit! Each creature may have distinct patterns or unique traits, so if one catches your eye, don’t forget to utilize this feature to keep it close!”

Or more informally:

“Remember that letter from the director? It mentioned you can check out the unique endemic life you’ve captured. In the Windward Plains, just click on ‘Check Endemic Life’ under Ecological Research. You can see your creatures, their names, sizes, and even favorite them so they stay in your collection despite reaching storage limit! Each creature might have special patterns or traits, so if one catches your eye, don’t forget to use this feature!

Besides potential enhancements in stability, especially within Steam, you’ll notice improvements in eight-star monsters, leading to boosted benefits for eight-star investigations and field surveys. The rewards for fishing have undergone adjustments, though the specifics are still unclear. The system for Guild Points from fishing has been revised, but the details haven’t been disclosed yet.

Our review awarded it an 8, stating: “Monster Hunter Wilds effectively refines some of the series’ rougher aspects, leading to exciting fights but somewhat lacking in genuine difficulty.
