As a seasoned Monster Hunter Wilds player, always having the right gear on each hunt can seriously level up your gaming experience. Here are some vital items you should always stash in your Item Pouch for maximum efficiency. This guide outlines all the essentials you shouldn’t venture into the wild without.
Items You Need to Bring Every Time
Organizing your equipment for a hunt in Monster Hunter Worlds can feel daunting with all the items available. But there are some must-haves for every quest, such as healing items, boosters, traps, and supportive equipment.
Healing Items
- Potion
- Mega Potion
- Max Potion
- Honey
- Lifepowder
In the initial and middle stages of the game, these items are indispensable because you’ll likely be wearing your starting armor with limited defense. It’s important to consume Mega Potions first whenever possible, and save regular Potions for mixing with Honey to create more Mega Potions. Furthermore, having Lifepowder is essential when playing in cooperative mode, as it enables you to revive teammates during critical situations.
Cleansing Items
- Nulberry
- Antidote / Herbal Medicine
Nulberry is a multipurpose cleaning item that’s handy to keep on hand. It can heal various afflictions, such as Fire, Water, Ice, and Dragon Blight, making it crucial for numerous hunts. Similarly, Antidote is indispensable if you get poisoned. There’s nothing more annoying than being unable to cure poison during a tough monster battle.
Trap Items
- Shock Trap
- Pitfall Trap
- Tranq Bomb
It’s crucial to always carry Pitfall Traps and Shock Traps in your inventory as they are indispensable tools for hunting. Catching monsters usually yields more rewards compared to killing them, which underscores the importance of traps for an efficient hunt. To catch these monsters effectively, you’ll also need Tranq Bombs to render them unconscious while they are trapped.
Buff Items
- Demondrug / Mega Demondrug
- Armorskin / Mega Armorskin
- Demon Powder
- Hardshell Powder
- Might Seed
- Powercharm
- Armorcharm
Essential items such as DemonDrug, ArmorSkin, DemonPowder, HardshellPowder, and MightSeeds significantly enhance both your offensive and defensive capabilities. Since these boosts accumulate, employing them collectively offers the best possible enhancement to your combat performance.
In essence, Powercharm and Armorcharm are handy items you should keep in your pouch at all times. Just having them on hand gives you a substantial increase in both attack power and defense. You can acquire these charms by successfully finishing the “Secure Wounded Hollow” and “As Gatekeeper” side missions.
Pods
- Flash Pod
- Dung Pod
Carrying both Flash Pods and Dung Pods is crucial because they offer benefits for both attacking and defending situations.
In simpler terms, these two items are useful in various situations, helping you attack enemies and protect yourself at the same time.
Register Item Loadouts
After you’ve figured out what gear to take along, it would be wise to save that setup as a predefined loadout. Manually configuring your inventory after each hunt can become quite tedious, but having a preset loadout enhances efficiency. It also helps in keeping track of items not included in the preset, making your overall inventory management easier.
- Go to your camp.
- Select “Transfer Items” and go to the Item Pouch.
- Add the selected items you want to bring into the pouch.
- Press L3 (Left Analog Stick).
- Press Triangle to open the sub-menu, then select “Register Loadout.”
- Rename the loadout to something easy to manage.
As a gamer, when I save my game, I’ve got the convenience of swiftly choosing my pre-set inventory stash at camp. This auto-refills my gear, and I can customize up to 80 unique sets for various scenarios.
When pursuing Elder Dragons, remember they cannot be trapped, so you don’t need to carry traps with you. Create a separate hunting loadout without traps and give it a suitable title like “Elder Hunt” or any name you prefer for easy identification.
