The second open beta test for Monster Hunter Wilds concluded recently, attracting more than 225,000 players through Steam. Regrettably, PlayStation users missed out due to a PSN outage during the weekend, causing them to be unable to participate in the beta on the PlayStation 5 edition.
To make amends and boost spirits among its fanbase, Capcom has shared via its X account that they are extending the second open beta test duration by an additional day for those who couldn’t participate in the initial testing phase.
This means that the second period will take now place at the following time:
From February 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM to February 17, 2025, at 6:59 PM (PT)
It means that the additional playtime will be valid across all variations of Monster Hunter Wilds’ 2nd Open Beta Test, implying that Xbox users, PlayStation users, and Steam users will each enjoy an extra day of gameplay.
Some bad moments have silver linings
Even though PlayStation gamers had to miss the initial testing phase due to the PSN downtime, it’s comforting that Capcom has extended the testing period by a day as a gesture of goodwill. In essence, this unexpected delay might turn out to be advantageous because now we get an additional day to preview Monster Hunter Wilds, one of the highly anticipated Xbox and PC titles of 2025, and arguably the most ambitious Monster Hunter game yet.
Keep in mind that the resolution/frame rate enhancements, as well as the weapon balance adjustments for the final game, are not included in the Open Beta Test.
Moreover, PC gamers might want to examine the latest PC Benchmark for Monster Hunter Worlds, released recently, to determine if their computer systems meet the updated, less demanding system requirements needed to play the game smoothly.
The upcoming game, Monster Hunter Wilds, which follows in the footsteps of Capcom’s highly-acclaimed Xbox and PC titles like Monster Hunter World, is set to debut on February 28, 2025, for platforms including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam on PC.
