Monster Hunter Wilds has announced a collaboration with Street Fighter 6, letting you dress up as Akuma and embark on a new side mission

The action-adventure game Monster Hunter Rise has teamed up with the upcoming fighting game Street Fighter 6 in a fresh collaboration set to launch on May 28th. A sneak peek of this collaboration was unveiled through a social media video, revealing various layered armor sets, unique attacks, and even Palico costumes inspired by Street Fighter characters. This partnership seems to bring a host of Street Fighter items for you to earn, including an adorable Blanka-themed Palico outfit, which is guaranteed to be free from any curses – my word on it!

One of the initial focuses in the trailer is the Akuma layered armor. Unlike merely being aesthetically pleasing, this collection introduces innovative moves such as Gou Hadoken and Gou Shoryuken. This means that instead of relying on massive weapons for power, Akuma can be seen engaging in hand-to-hand combat with Ajarakan and Congalala. However, fear not if you prefer to utilize your weapons; the option remains available if you’d rather keep a safe distance from the action.

To claim these rewards, you’ll first have to undertake a fresh side quest titled “Ultimate Strength”. This quest can only be accessed by players who have achieved Hunter Rank 21 or above. The event kicks off on May 28, at which point you should chat with Quinn at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp to initiate the quest. You’re free to complete this mission whenever suits you, as once the collaboration is live, it becomes a permanent feature in the game.

In addition to the Blanka-chan doll, Alma also has two new outfits on offer through a paid DLC: Chun-Li and Cammy. Honestly, I find it disappointing that the hunter doesn’t have these options as well; we can only dress up as Akuma at the moment. However, there are still plenty of other rewards to enjoy. Sigh.

To put the finishing touch on, players opting for extra Street Fighter style can acquire a collection of three gestures via the paid DLC. These are the Hadoken, Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpu-kyaku, each with combat capabilities. However, their main appeal lies in creating some truly awesome photos.
