Monster Hunter Wilds has been hit by over 2,000 negative Steam reviews in the last week as players lose hope that Capcom will fix its egregious performance issues

Steam’s latest review hotspot is Monster Hunter Wilds, as numerous unhappy players have flooded the platform with negative feedback, causing the game’s overall rating to plummet to “very negative” within the past week. Since Monday alone, more than 2,000 unfavorable reviews have been submitted, primarily due to poor PC performance and a perceived lack of significant improvements from Capcom since its initial release months ago.

Four months have passed since its launch, and there haven’t been any significant improvements in the game’s performance, as pointed out by a Steam user.

“This review will remain negative until they fix the terrible PC performance,” another wrote.

The negative feedback portrays a game with frequent crashes, lagging, and visual flaws that significantly diminish enjoyment, sometimes making it impossible to play altogether. Despite numerous updates since launch, Capcom hasn’t effectively addressed these problems for many users, nor have they openly acknowledged them. Some Steam reviewers even assert that the performance has deteriorated further.

Among the problems faced in gameplay, there are players voicing their dissatisfaction with certain simplified aspects of Wilds and finding the monster battles more challenging compared to earlier games such as Monster Hunter World. The initial major title update brought forth tougher monsters, but hardcore fans crave additional challenges to conquer.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed when I see a price tag of $70 on a game that seems to offer fewer features compared to its predecessors.

Currently, more people are playing World simultaneously than Wilds, a reasonable outcome given its longer existence and frequent sales. However, Wilds has been experiencing a steady decrease since early April, reaching some of its lowest player counts recently with approximately 6,000 players concurrently, as per SteamDB. The Street Fighter collaboration introduced in May did not significantly boost the player base, leaving the game in a holding pattern until the next title update. Capcom is set to disclose details about this on June 26.

At present, there’s no indication of a significant performance patch for the game. Last year, Dragon’s Dogma 2 faced similar problems and many players still find it frustratingly unpolished on PC. In light of this, numerous Wilds players appear to be losing faith in Capcom taking action and are expressing their concerns through the only means they know.
