In games featuring complex armor systems for RPGs, there’s an abundance of armors and costumes for players to obtain. Each piece provides varying levels of protection against damage, as well as additional bonuses like boosts.
In some cases, the armor sets may not seem stylish enough for players, but that’s where a transformation or layered armor system (like Monster Hunter Wilds refers to it) proves useful. This system allows players to enjoy both fashionable appearances and top-tier stats at once – killing two birds with one stone!
How To Unlock Layered Armor (Transmog System) In MHW
To get started with Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to finish the initial mission within the game. This encompasses both the opening cutscenes and the battle against the cave-dwelling monster known as Chatacabra, a toad-like creature. Since the Chatacabra tends to escape several times after being hurt, it’s crucial that you track it down and ultimately defeat it.
Once the monster has been vanquished, a cinematic sequence unfolds before the player is whisked away to their initial campsite. Here, they encounter Nata, Gemma, and Olivia, three friendly NPCs. Subsequently, the Expedition Command tent is the next destination. After another cinematic display, the map of the camp will highlight the player’s personal tent, which houses the transmog system for customization options.
How To Equip Layered Armor In Monster Hunter Wilds
Head over to your private tent at any Monster Hunter Wilds camp, and then navigate to the ‘Appearance’ tab. In this section, pick ‘Equipment Appearance’. Here you’ll find a display of the Layered Armor worn on each part of your character’s body, from headgear to footwear.
If the body part icon is gray, it signifies no armored layer has been selected yet, especially when this menu is your first visit. Each cosmetic category has a toggle button, which controls the transmogrification for that specific body part. Turning off the transmog for a certain area will cause the character’s gear in that region to become invisible. For instance, if you turn off layered armor for all parts, your character will appear wearing their initial outfit, but they’ll still retain the benefits of the armed sets they have equipped.
To put a particular skin on a specific armor piece, ensure the transmogrification option for that body part is active, then click on its icon and choose any of the skins available for selection.
For players who don’t have any skins, no options will be shown in this section.
Once you’ve selected your preferred skin, look for a pair of rectangles in two colors near the gear icon, which will give you the option to modify the color scheme of your chosen skin.
After taking off the skins, the player can head back to the “Equipment” tab within the tent’s Menu to swap out their gear. If you decide to put on armor pieces for various body parts that have layered protection, the visual appearance of your character may remain unchanged, but the stats will differ.
