The long-awaited launch of Capcom’s popular game, Monster Hunter Wilds, is nearly here as it’s set to hit shelves on February 28, 2025. To heighten our excitement even more, Capcom has revealed plans for another Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds!
During the upcoming Open Beta Test sessions in February, gamers on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms will have the opportunity to participate. Additionally, the classic monster from the Monster Hunter series, the sly Gypceros, the Bird Wyvern, will make its return.
In February, we’re hosting an Open Beta Test on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms for players to join. The test will include the comeback of a long-standing monster from the Monster Hunter franchise – the tricky Gypceros, a Bird Wyvern.
Or simply:
Join us in February for an Open Beta Test on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms! We’re bringing back one of our oldest monsters, the sly Gypceros from the Monster Hunter series.
All three versions are easy to understand and maintain the original meaning of the text.
Here’s everything you need to know about the second Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds.
Open Beta Test content
In the upcoming Open Beta Test Phase 2, you’ll find all the content from Monster Hunter Wilds’ initial Open Beta Test. This encompasses character creation, a tutorial mission detailing fundamental controls, and a hunting quest where you need to defeat a Doshaguma. If you previously created a character and Palico in the first Open Beta Test, you’ll have the option to transfer them directly into the second Open Beta Test, sparing you the effort of creating new ones.
In the upcoming second open beta test, you’ll find fresh content not present in the initial one. For instance, we’re bringing back Gypceros, a substantial Bird Wyvern that last appeared in a primary Monster Hunter game during Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
Despite its goofy appearance, the Gypceros is surprisingly cunning and a formidable predator. This creature has the ability to twist its tail into an extended whip, flash dazzling lights, emit toxic saliva, and feign death to surprise its prey.
In simpler terms, although it might look silly, this animal is quite smart and dangerous. It can stretch its tail like a whip, confuse you with flashing lights, spit poison, and pretend to be dead as a trick!
Capcom has mentioned that the second Open Beta Test will offer extra features, including Gyceros, and there’s more to come, but they will disclose specifics about those added features at a future time.
Instead, it’s been verified by Capcom that the upcoming Open Beta Test won’t include the performance enhancements and weapon adjustments they announced in December 2024. These changes are currently being incorporated into the official, launch version of Monster Hunter Wilds.
Open Beta Test start dates and platforms
The second open beta test for Monster Hunter Rise, titled “Wilds”, is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. Notably, participation in this beta does not necessitate a subscription to PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass Core, or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, you will require these subscriptions to utilize the online features of the complete game once it’s officially released.
Here are the following dates that the second Open Beta Test will take place:
- From February 6th 2025, 7:00pm to February 9th, 2025, 6:59pm (P.T. time)
- From February 13th, 2025. 7:00pm to February 16th, 2025, 6:59pm (P.T. time)
As an enthusiast, I want to share some important details about the upcoming events. Please keep in mind that the provided start times might be adjusted in the future. Additionally, be prepared for potential changes or even cancellations of Open Beta Test periods without previous notice. Enjoy the experience, but stay flexible!
To join the Open Beta Test, you need a reliable high-speed internet connection and at least 29GB of free storage space for the platform you prefer (be it PlayStation, Xbox, or PC). If you’re choosing the PC version for the Open Beta Test, make sure your computer meets the system requirements specified for Monster Hunter Worlds.
Open Beta Test rewards for the full game
Similar to the initial open testing phase, Monster Hunter Wilds’ second open beta test offers participants exclusive rewards they can unlock and utilize within the final game. By simply participating in the open beta test, players will receive items such as a Stuffed Felyne Teddy Pendant and an OBT 2 Bonus Item Pack.
The Item Pack will contain the following items:
- Raw Meat x10
- Shock Trap x3
- Pitfall Trap x3
- Tranq Bomb x10
- Large Barrel Bomb x3
- Armor Sphere x5
- Flash Pod x10
- Large Dung Pod x10
As a researcher, I’d like to share some crucial information about claiming the full game rewards. To ensure you don’t miss out, remember that the account you used during the second Open Beta Test is the one you should use now, while being online. Each account can only claim these items once, so make sure your character data is ready before attempting to obtain the rewards.
