Last night’s PlayStation State of Play presentation unveiled upcoming games, showcased captivating previews, and hinted at further gaming delights in store. One of the highlighted titles was the launch trailer for Capcom’s eagerly anticipated “Monster Hunter Rise”.
Buried In The Trailer Were Details About Monster Hunter Wilds‘ First (Free) Post-Launch Content Update
Two weeks before the big day, I got a glimpse at the game’s launch trailer, showcasing an array of monstrous beasts that made my pulse race. Plus, it revealed some new, heart-stopping character interactions and breathtaking stages that left me eagerly counting down the days!
Following an enticing build-up throughout most of the four-minute video, it concludes with a surprising “there’s still more to come” teaser, hinting at the comeback of the captivating monster, Mizutsune. The breathtaking creature displays its vibrant, iridescent appearance and distinctive bubbles in full splendor using the RE Engine technology.
Following the unveiling of Mizutsune, the trailer transitions momentarily to a sneak peek of a forthcoming timeline for updates. This timeline indicates that Mizutsune is set to debut with Monster Hunter Wilds’ first complimentary content expansion in the spring.
In addition to introducing Mizutsune in the upcoming Spring update, we also plan to roll out ‘Event Quests’ and ‘Further Updates’. Unfortunately, these features don’t have their own video or graphic representation at this time.
Further information about the update will become available as we approach the arrival of our first free title update this coming spring.
The Same Can Be Said For The Second Free Title Update Slated For Later This Summer
The upcoming summer release is expected to introduce further Event Quests, along with a new monster type. However, we don’t know yet which monster it will be.

The “day-one patch” will be rolled out near the game’s release date, providing compatibility with the hypothetical PlayStation 5 Pro.
Upgraded capabilities will allow for ray tracing, offering gamers a more immersive experience as they either pursue or become hunted by the game’s creatures, all with improved graphical detail.
After its launch, you can expect to find temporary event quests added to the game during the subsequent week. These quests will be available for a specific period only.
Completing these limited-time event quests will reward players with unique armor and gear.

Players can get their hands on Monster Hunter Wilds on February 28, 2025.
