Monster Hunter Wilds’ new mega-boss is awesome, but waiting “literal hours” for this thing to spawn is such a buzzkill

Last week, I jumped back into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne with Title Update 1, and let me tell you, the return of Mizutsune and the chance to face off against the game’s ultimate boss, Zorah Magdaros, in High Rank has got me pumped! But, fellow hunters, I’ve come to find that taking on these high-stakes battles isn’t as straightforward as challenging the smaller monsters. It seems like I need more than just my trusty hunting horn to make this happen!

The initial battle against Zoh Shia in Monster Hunter Wilds‘ High Rank is a typical mission, offering an effortless rematch with one of the game’s standout characters. But if you wish to engage again, it isn’t as simple. Once you have completed Monster Hunter Wilds, you may have observed that Jin Dahaad frequently appears for a battle, with a notification informing you it has been sighted. In a similar fashion, Capcom has adopted this approach with Zoh Shia; the monster only appears when it chooses to, unlike Jin Dahaad, and there’s no optional quest available for repeated battles. This inconsistency in the Monster Hunter community has caused some confusion.

One Reddit post queries about strategies to battle the monster following the initial High Rank encounter, and although some have proposed their ideas, other players express dissatisfaction. One comment voices frustration, “I can’t stand that this character doesn’t have an optional quest. Repeatedly resetting the map or enduring hours of waiting for him to appear is just foolish.” Simultaneously, another player criticizes, “Once more, we see poor game design at work.
