During today’s Capcom Showcase livestream, we received a flood of fresh game details and an exhilarating cinematic trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, unveiling both new and classic monsters, a brand-new hunting location, captivating gameplay aspects, and additional details about its upcoming Second Open Beta Test.
Here’s all the important details you need to know from the Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase.
The event commenced with the unveiling of the sixth cinematic trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, which marked the beginning of something exciting. This new trailer showcased an icy expanse known as the Iceshard Cliffs, a chilling hunting ground teeming with colossal monsters that are sure to cause unease. Among these intimidating creatures are the Hirabami, airborne beasts, a massive, dragon-like creature resembling a reptilian seahorse, and Nerscylla, an enormous spider monster, previously introduced in Monster Hunter 4.
As a researcher, I delved into the captivating world portrayed in the trailer, where it unfolds glimpses of its immersive narrative alongside footage of players engaging in combat with the game’s primary antagonist, Arkveld – an imposing dragon-like entity armed with whip-like appendages.
Towards the end, the preview offers an exciting sneak peek hinting at the addition of Gore Magala, the menacing main monster from Monster Hunter 4, to the roster of beasts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Next, we delve into sharing additional details about the second Open Beta Test for Monster Hunter Wilds, set to occur on these specified dates:
- From February 6th 2025, 7:00pm to February 9th, 2025, 6:59pm (P.T. time)
- From February 13th, 2025. 7:00pm to February 16th, 2025, 6:59pm (P.T. time)
In our upcoming Open Beta Test, you can expect many similarities to the initial test, but we’ve added some exciting new elements. These include the opportunity to track down the newly unveiled Gypceros and engage in battles against our premier monster, Arkveld.
For the Open Beta Test, there are some fresh additions such as a Practice Range at the Base Camp for honing your skills with all Monster Hunter Wilds’ weapons, the option to create Personal Online Rooms, and a Solo Multiplayer mode to enjoy on your own online.
Keep in mind that during the Open Beta Test, you won’t find any adjustments related to weapon balancing or performance enhancements that will be incorporated in the game’s official release version.
Subsequently, The Showcase showcases some exciting gameplay aspects that gamers can experience fully. Firstly, there’s Layered Armor, a decorative system enabling players to adorn their own or their Palico companion’s armor with the appearances of any other armor pieces in the game. This way, they can maintain the stats while also looking stylish.
You’ll gain access to Layered Armor once you craft High Rank armor, while Layered Armor rewards can be used even from Low Rank.
In this game, you’re not just limited to personalizing your character; you can also modify the aesthetics of your Seikret mount and its feathers, as well as adorn it with cosmetic items for a unique look. Additionally, you have the option to customize the design and color schemes of your Pop-Up tents, which serve as your resting spots and supply replenishment areas during your hunting expeditions.
Plus you can place chairs near your camp and set up background music while resting in Pop-Up Tents.
The upcoming gameplay feature introduced is the Hunter Profile, an enhanced version of Monster Hunter World’s Guild Card system that allows you to swap profile pictures with your friends. It now includes customizable cosmetic options, poses, and facial expressions to reflect your character’s unique personality during online hunts.
Later on, the Showcase unveiled what might be one of the most impressive new features for the Monster Hunter series – the Photo Mode. In essence, this allows you to momentarily halt the game during solo play so that you can capture screenshots of your hunting expeditions and share them with others online.
Indeed, Photo Mode operates seamlessly during both offline single-player and online gameplay. This means that you can take a break to capture a moment without interrupting your internet connection while playing online.
To wrap up the Showcase, they unveiled additional DLC content that players can obtain, such as item sets, emotes, customizable armor skins, music tracks, and various cosmetics. This is done by connecting your Capcom account and purchasing either the Deluxe or Premium Editions of Monster Hunter Wilds.
Furthermore, Capcom has shared that a week following Monster Hunter Wilds’ launch on February 28, 2025, they will start sharing exclusive online Event Quests. These quests allow players to earn special gear with distinctive appearances. Moreover, be sure to stay tuned for additional information regarding post-launch content updates after the game goes live.

My anticipation for Monster Hunter Worlds has peaked even higher, yet I’m finding it unbearable to wait any longer following this recent showcase.
