Due to a recent outage on PlayStation Network that prevented numerous players from accessing its online services, Capcom has decided to extend the open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds during the second week of February.
Capcom announced in a communication on X that the open beta testing period, initially scheduled to start on February 13th (or 14th based on your timezone), will last an additional 24 hours. Consequently, the beta testing phase could now conclude between February 17th and 18th, again taking account of different timezones.
For both PC and Xbox gamers, there’s no cause for concern! The open beta has been expanded on all platforms, meaning that even though some of you might not have been impacted by the downtime, you’ll get an additional day to experience the game.
Alongside the expansion itself, Capcom has verified that any rewards earned during the open beta will carry over to the extra day as well. This means you won’t have to worry about missing out on those rewards.
On Friday evening (Eastern Time), there was an interruption in PlayStation Network service that lasted approximately 24 hours and was addressed the next day by Capcom. This means that access to PlayStation Network was not available during this timeframe.
Sony has not disclosed the cause of the downtime, instead, they attributed it to a “technical problem” in a conciliatory statement issued on X.
If you’re currently a PlayStation Plus member, you’ll receive an additional 5 days as an apology to your subscription. Unfortunately, non-PlayStation Plus members won’t be receiving anything, but all tiers of subscribers will benefit from this offer.
As for Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s the upcoming next major installment in the Monster Hunter series. The game will see you sally forth into the Forbidden Lands to investigate rumors of a mysterious monster attacking villages.
