Monster Hunter Wilds Special Event Announced for February 22

Sony’s PlayStation Japan is collaborating with Capcom for a special “PLAY! PLAY! PLAY! Monster Hunter Rise” event. This exclusive gathering, taking place on February 22 at 5 PM JST, will include producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, director Yuuya Tokuda, and be hosted by Hatsuna Matsushima. The event promises to offer valuable insights into the upcoming “Monster Hunter Rise”.

During the upcoming livestream, Capcom has hinted that we won’t witness significant surprises, but what we can expect is a sneak peek at the arena field – the setting where arena battles for captured monsters or unique missions will unfold.

It’s important to mention that, given this is an interactive broadcast with a Japanese host and audience, there may not be English subtitles or translations available.

The action role-playing game, “Monster Hunter Rise”, is set to release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 27th. Capcom has provided a comprehensive chart detailing the specific release times in different regions and platforms. Pre-loading for PC and Xbox Series X/S will commence two days prior, on February 25th. However, PS5 players will have to wait until 48 hours before the game’s launch on their system to begin pre-loading.

Though Capcom has shared details about Monster Hunter Wilds and introduced some monsters players might battle, it hasn’t specified what sort of content for the endgame the game will offer yet. However, Tsujimoto did clarify that Siege hunts won’t be available in the initial release of the game.

Instead of featuring large-scale raids involving 16 players, similar to Kulve Taroth and Safi’jiiva from Monster Hunter World and Iceborne, Monster Hunter Wilds will primarily emphasize enhanced versions of its typical 4-player expeditions. Tsujimoto has not ruled out the possibility of introducing Siege hunts in future updates, but he clarified that there are no immediate plans for it at this time.

It’s been revealed from the latest trailer that Monster Hunter Rise will soon introduce Mizutsune into its collection of monsters. This creature first appeared in Monster Hunter Generations, but was absent from World and Iceborne; it returned in Rise.

In the latest round of monster confirmations, we find some familiar faces making a comeback, such as Gore Magala and Nerscylla, originally introduced in Monster Hunter 4. Additionally, we have confirmations for several other returning monsters, including Blangonga, Congalala, and Gravios.

As gamers gear up for Monster Hunter Wilds, it seems that many have been returning to Monster Hunter World, Iceborne, Rise, and Sunbreak. Recently, Capcom disclosed that as of December 2024, Monster Hunter World had sold a staggering 28.10 million copies. In contrast, Monster Hunter Rise has achieved sales of 16.70 million units.
