As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of monster-slaying experience under my belt, I must admit that Capcom knows exactly how to keep us hooked. The latest glimpse into Monster Hunter Wilds has me itching for more – specifically, the Insect Glaive.
After showcasing previews for the Great Sword and Heavy Bowgun in Monster Hunter Rise, Capcom’s latest game highlights the Insect Glaive as its main feature. The fundamental mechanics of the weapon stay consistent, allowing players to dispatch a Kinsect to extract various parts from a monster and acquire enhancements. Take a look at it below.
Based on the specific body part of the monster, the Kinsect collects one of three power-ups. Accumulating all three of these enhancements significantly boosts the player’s abilities, enabling them to deal more damage. The Insect Glaive, equipped with its pole vault feature, can either climb onto the monster or execute mid-air evasive maneuvers.
Using the Focus Strike, you can jab the target, perform a backflip, and then inflict damage on its vulnerable areas with the Kinsect, potentially gathering extracts for boosts. Exciting new maneuvers include spinning on the monster’s head, executing a flipping smash attack, and performing a downward thrust (similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne).
In 2025, the game titled “Monster Hunter Wilds” is scheduled to debut on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. For those fortunate enough to attend Gamescom, it will be playable. Moreover, a fresh trailer for this game will make its appearance during Opening Night Live on August 20th.
