As a seasoned Monster Hunter veteran with countless hours spent dodging, slashing, and blasting my way through the various ecosystems of this beloved franchise, I must say that the latest reveal for the Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds has left me utterly smitten!
In the ongoing display of weapon varieties within Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom has unveiled a fresh trailer, demonstrating the functionality of the Gunlance. By merging the robust protection of a shield with projectiles and blasts, the Gunlance provides enhanced mobility and versatility compared to the standard Lance. Take a look at it, along with what appears to be the Ingot Set, below.
In the updated version of Gunlance, the standard shelling and charged shots remain, along with the Wyrmstake Cannon. But now, players can move while firing, and by skillfully blocking an attack, they can retaliate with a powerful counterattack. The Wyrmstake Cannon has been enhanced to function as a drill, allowing it to burrow into enemies when activated in Focus Mode.
In my gaming world, nothing beats the thrill of that ultimate move – plunging a Wyrmstake into a beast, setting it off with a swift detonation, and then sealing the deal by deploying another one.
2025 sees the release of “Monster Hunter Wilds” on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC platforms. However, players can get an early taste of the game at Gamescom from August 21st to 25th. Additionally, a brand-new trailer will be unveiled during Opening Night Live on August 20th. Take a look at the trailers featuring the Great Sword, Heavy Bowgun, and Insect Glaive weapons.
